parkrun returns in Queensland

On Saturday 28th November 2020 most parkruns are scheduled to restart in Queensland, including at Wynnum :)

We will be subject to a few additional measures for covid-19. The important ones are...

  • Don't attend if you do not feel well, have travelled overseas in last 14 days, been in contact with someone with covid-19 or have been in a covid-declared hotspot in last 14 days
  • Please travel to parkrun by foot, bicycle, or private transport
  • Listen quietly to the short Run Brief and be ready to start as soon as it finishes
  • Keep your distance from others where possible, respect other people's space
  • Use the QR code we will provide for contact tracing, more details to follow
  • No spitting or high-fiving on the course
  • At the end show your own athlete barcode and finish token to the volunteer from a distance, and place your barcode in the tub provided so we can sanitise it for next week
  • Support your children to socially distance and follow the new rules

The parkrun Virtual Volunteer App has been improved to make the scanning and timing roles easier. The Run Director will show volunteers what to do but please make sure you have the app installed on your phone if you are a scanner or a timer. We also supply sanitiser for the volunteers to use.

We look forward to seeing you parkrun or volunteer back at Wynnum soon.

Thanks, Alan & Roisin - Event Directors Wynnum parkrun

Christmas and New Year

Wynnum is not allowed to hold additional events on Christmas and New Year's day, but we will be holding our regular Saturday parkruns on every Saturday in December 2018 and January 2019. There will be other options of running at nearby parkruns on those special days so I am sure we will see some of you out there.
If you want to celebrate Christmas with us a few days early then come along to our special run on 22nd December 2018 and dress up in Tutu or Santa Suit if you wish and share some festive treats with us.
Alan & Roisin - Event Directors

Wynnum parkrun cancelled on 11th November 2017

Wynnum parkrun will be cancelled on Saturday 11th November 2017. There is a Remembrance service taking place for the NASHOS at 7am at Darling Point. So out of respect for those attending the Remembrance service, and for the safety of both those attending the service and those taking part in parkrun, we are cancelling parkrun at Wynnum for next week only.

People wanting to go to a parkrun next Saturday morning can go to other nearby events like Minnippi, Wishart, Mansfield, Capalaba, Cleveland, Sirromet or Redland Bay. There are now 250 parkruns in Australia each week so we have plenty of choices.

Wynnum will be back on 18th November, which is the same day our newest neighbouring parkrun will start at Lota, so on 18th you will have even more local choice :)

See you soon, Alan & Roisin - EDs Wynnum parkrun

No additional parkruns on Christmas Day or New Years Day

There WILL be the usual Saturday parkruns over Christmas (ie 23rd/30th December 2017 and 6th January 2018) but there will NOT be any additional events on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Other local parkruns will be running on those days, please see here for more details Christmas Compendium

No Christmas Day and New Year Day parkruns at Wynnum

As in previous years we will not be holding any 'additional' parkruns on Christmas Day or New Years Day. We are not allowed to do so under our permit to run from Brisbane Council.

Other local parkruns are likely to be holding events. More details can be found on this page

Please note there will be normal Saturday parkruns running on Saturday throughout the Christmas and New Year - so there WILL be parkruns ay Wynnum on Saturday 24th December (Christmas Eve) and Saturday 31st December (New Years Eve).

On behalf of all the Event Team at Wynnum we would like to wish all our parkrunners a Blessed and Peaceful Christmas and New Year and we hope you continue to enjoy our free weekly community parkruns in 2017.

Best wishes, Alan & Roisin - Event Directors Wynnum parkrun

Christmas and New Year at Wynnum

Due to Brisbane City Council regulations we will not be able to hold a Wynnum parkrun on Christmas Day (Friday 24th December 2015), nor on Boxing Day (Saturday 26th December 2015), nor on New Years Day (Friday 1st January 2016).

So our last parkrun of the year will be Saturday 19th December, and the next parkrun after then will be Saturday 2nd January 2016 . Please join us on on 19th December to celebrate our last day of this year. Feel free to dress up as Santa or with any other festive theme!

For those going away over the holiday period we hope you have a safe and relaxing time and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2016.

Best wishes, Alan & Roisin Burrell - Event Directors

PS other local parkruns will be running event over Christmas, see here for details

Stay safe everyone, Alan & Roisin - Event Directors

January parkrunner of the month

We are very pleased to announce that our parkunner of the month for January is Joanne Leggo.

The parkunner of the month is choosen jointly by the Wynnum parkrun event team who are always on the lookout for someone who comes regularly, has volunteered recently and has made some improvements. It could be anyone from the fastest to the slowest, someone who above all enjoys and gets great benefit from parkrun and who helps us to share our wonderful community event here at Wynnum.

Joanne has run 21 parkruns, 20 of them here with us and has got 8 PBs including one to celebrate on Saturday.

Seen here in this photo is Roisin presenting Joanne her exclusive Suncorp Bank singlet and also a free Sports/Relaxation massage voucher from Lime & Mrytle - who provide a great massage in the Wynnum West area. We thank both our sponsors kindly for the prizes that help us celebrate our special Wynnum parkrunner of the Month...

If you would like to one of our next parkrunner of the months just come along to as many Wynnum parkruns as you can and make sure you have volunteered recently. Then you could be on the event team's radar for next time :)

Congratulations again to Joanne, from Alan & Roisin and all the Wynnum event team

Christmas and New Year parkruns!

A bit early, but some advanced info that Wynnum will not be holding a parkrun on Christmas or New Year's Day! Our council permission does not allow us to run on those days.

I am sure there will be other local parkruns holding events on those two days - as there was last year. - and nearer then I will publish the locations of known local Christmas and New Year parkruns.

On behalf of the Wynnum event team Roisin and I wish you season's greetings (well in advance), and invite all keen parkrunners to join us as 'tourists' at one of our neighbouring parkruns!

June parkrunner of the month

Congratulations to Lee Stapleton who was awarded out Wynnum parkrunner of the month for June. Lee has got 3 PBs in June and on the other week in June he volunteered - that's the parkrun spirit we love to see! Well done Lee :-)

Picture here is of Lee receiving a certificate and massage/run vouchers by our RD Matt on 19/7/14.

Many thanks to our local supporters Lime & Mrytle and Daily Runner who provide vouchers to our parkrunners of the month for either for a full massage with L&M or series of training session with DR.
