West Beach parkrun Event number 185 21st December 2019

The weather gods seems to hear the plea from the entire state of South Australia and provided a much cooler (although still windy) morning for West Beach parkrun event #185. We had several milestones - 50s and a 100! - and visitors from all parts of the world, interstate from Victoria and Queensland, and internationally from England and Canada! Well done to everyone on a somewhat challenging day weatherwise.

Unfortunately we had a couple of incidents where dogs were not controlled, one which could have ended a lot worse than it did. While parkrun does pride itself on being dog friendly and welcoming, owners MUST keep their dogs controlled, on a short leash when running/walking, and definitely not off lead at the finish area. This is for the safety of your dogs as well as parkrunners.

See you all next Saturday, and hopefully at the New Years Day 7:30am parkrun event as well.

This week 248 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 29 were first timers and 25 recorded new Personal Bests.

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers:

David BAILEY • Ian HILL • Briony BULLARD • Chris BOWDEN • Aleta GUNN • Michael GUNN • James GUNN • Caycee FELL • Narelle ALVARO • Rebecca NORMAN • Annabel JONES

West Beach parkrun Event number 181 23rd November 2019

It was a lovely morning today, bringing 279 parkrunners, walkers, pram-pushers and dogs that ran, walked and jogged the course. Kids take over was a huge success and ran as smoothly as any other event. It shows that anyone can volunteer at parkrun, so if you haven't done it before, please consider putting your name on the roster! A big thank you to the parents helping the kids run the event - we've got a bunch of emerging leaders among them!

This week 279 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 28 were first timers and 46 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 12 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 16 volunteers:

West Beach parkrun Event number 170 – 7th September 2019

The rain held off (sort of) for the 169 souls who came out to brave the weather. Lucky there are smiles, friendly faces and warm coffee to brighten up the place - West Beach parkrun really is the place to be! We greeted several tourists from Sydney and Queensland (who sadly didn't bring the warm weather with them but we still love them) and congratulated one of our locals Robert on his 100th parkrun!

A special shout out to our own August parkrun hero Michelle, who has won the chance to travel to a parkrun in ACT! You can nominate a parkrun hero every month until February 2020 thanks to Medicare at https://www.medibank.com.au/livebetter/parkrunhero-nomination/

West Beach parkrun – Event number 157 – 8th June 2019

Despite the chilly start to the day, we had 230 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 32 were first timers and 54 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.

We celebrated runners reaching milestones of 100 and 50 runs, and one volunteer earned his purple shirt by ticking up 25 appearances! Not bad for an 11 year old!

Only one hiccup today - finish token number 48 went missing, and hasn't come home. If you have it, please return it next week - no questions asked!

Today's event was made possible by 10 volunteers:

Richelle PATRICK • Alan WOTHERSPOON • Abigail PRICE • Nathan HARRISON • Robert GUNN • James GUNN • Caycee FELL • Neil WAGSTAFF • Kerry YIANNI • Glaucia SPRENGER
