West Beach parkrun – Event number 209 – 13th February 2021

It was a sea of green and black on what looked like being a very possible wet parkrun as the misty winds rolled in over the sand dunes this Saturday morning.  However, the rain eased and the sun shone in time for the 247 eager runners to take off, and take off they did with our first runner finishing in a lightening speed of 16:03!

One such eager runner was one of our very own run directors - Greg Patrick, who celebrated his 100th parkrun today! Congratulations Greg, and apologies to everyone's eyes as the boys decided on a fluoro green and black mankini get up!

Thanks to all the volunteers and for the parkrun community for making this another enjoyable Saturday morning.

This week 247 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 34 were first timers and 35 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 20 different clubs took part.

West Beach parkrun – Event number 208 – 6th February 2021

Well, it was a cool, wet, and windy morning down at West Beach. Amazingly 165 troopers turned up to run, which is about 100 more than we expected! With 20 of them never having set foot on the West Beach course before, we hope that they will come back to experience the beauty of West Beach on a more summer-like day.

Thank you to all of our volunteers this week. They weathered the storm today, and most of them did not get away dry. But without dedicated volunteers, parkrun can not run. So again, thank you!

This week 165 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 21 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different clubs took part.

The dodgy weather overnight did not put off 248 keen parkrunners this morning who joined us to celebrate and eat cake!

We had visitors and milestones - including young George who achieved his 10th parkrun this morning.

It was a special day at West Beach parkrun today as Co-Event Director and Co-Founder Shelley Harington stepped down and handed her Event Director responsibilities on to Aleta Gunn.  Welcome to the role Aleta.  Aleta joins Tennille Mares as Co-Event Directors at West Beach parkrun from now on.  Also, Lorraine Tyler, fellow Co-Founder and previous Event Director stepped down form the team to continue her parkrun Event Ambassador role and Lung Cancer Advocacy work.  Although Shelley and Lorraine established the event together, it was Shelley's idea!  You know who to thank/blame!
