The crack of leather on willow, or a vociferous “Howzat?”. Two of the most iconic sounds of summer. Almost equally well heard is something along the lines of “@%#$ it’s hot!”, uttered by many a parkrunner, red as a beetroot, as they finish their regular Saturday morning five kilometre run under the bright Aussie sun...
Yes, today was warm, and standing still at the finish line in a volunteer role turned out to be a good idea! Thanks to Len, Bob, Jill and Vanessa for filling those positions today, allowing everyone else to complain about the heat. As mentioned during the briefing, we are in need of plenty of vollies for the remainder of the year, and thanks go to those people who wrote their name in the book this morning. For those regular runners who were not in attendance today, but are reading this report, we also spoke about our desire to add to our Run Director ranks. If you would like to join the event team, please contact us so we can give you further information.
Congratulations to Anita and Cathy for their milestones today. Technically Anita reached her 50 run mark a couple of weeks ago, but kept it quiet, so I had to go and spoil that! Cathy became our latest member of the 100 club - no small feat either. Well done both of you.
For some reason there is a delay in the results being processed, so I don’t know if anyone achieved a PB this morning. But, should anyone have done so, great work, cause it was hot!
Ok, plenty more cricket beckons, so I’m outta here! Enjoy the weekend everyone, and see you all next Saturday, as we hit the home straight of 2019.
