No doubt you've seen the news and are excited that Victorian parkrun events can resume from this weekend, however we still have a little more paperwork and preparation to do before we can all get back to running and walking around Lake Pertobe with our friends.
** New Volunteering Options **
Great news, we have more ways for people to get involved with parkrun! <3
Whilst operating under the COVID-19 Framework, we now have some extra ways for our parkrunners to get involved with volunteering \o/. The best part is that some of these roles can be done in addition to running or walking on the day!
Barcode scanners: as we are now using the Virtual Volunteer App, and need to clear the finish area quickly, we need at least 2 scanning volunteers, but the more the merrier; you could run really fast, then assist with barcode scanning for the rest of the finishers!
Equipment storage (and cleaning): after each event we'll need to wash the volunteer vests and finish tokens and sort the tokens back into order. It would be great if we could share this work to keep things simple for our Run Director team!
** Course Update **
Over the past few months our event team have been working hard behind the scenes, keeping up with changes, so we can return to parkrun safely on the 23rd
There has been a number of construction projects in and around Lake Pertobe and as a result we've had to get an alternate course approved to allow a return to parkrun in Warrnambool!
No it's not that bad, we are still starting from the usual location but we've tweaked the back section near the train station and beyond. So as a sort of concession, the alternate course will avoid the "big hill" we will now turn up the "low track" to then loop back before the old woollen mill area running back to the top end of the high track to the turnaround point!
