The Terrace parkrun Weekly Report #28

It was drizzly and wet but at least for our visitor from England would have felt at home!

Belinda Mikaelian was awarded volunteer of the month, Mark Owens was awarded parkrunner of the month and Quincy Quayle joined the 10 club.

It was a small gathering at 70 runners but that’s a lot more than 7 months ago! Keep it up!

This is a link to a one question survey. Can you please take 10 seconds to fill it out?

The Terrace parkrun Weekly Report #18

ah

It was a windy and cool morning (flanno weather), but of course, parkrun was still on. We had 99 runners today, and exactly one-third of them recorded a PB! Well done to everyone that turned up (even if you didn't finish).

We had 9 first timers come to The Terrace, and exactly one-third of them had not been to any other parkrun! Welcome to the new people! New people, like bow ties, are cool.

With the cold weather coming in it is probably a good time to remind everyone that warming up before the run can reduce the chance of injury.

Over the last few weeks we have encouraged people to join up to the Runkeeper 5K Global Challenge which some people participated in today. If you are looking for an app to use while running or cycling then Strava is worth a look too! If you use Strava then you can also link it with parkrun.

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the The Terrace parkrun Results Page. A brief outline follows:

The Terrace parkrun Weekly Report #10

The Terrace parkrun #10 2nd April 2016

That’s it! We’ve been around now for ten weeks! We have an amazing group of runners and walkers, and every Wednesday our roster is full. You are amazing! We also want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been a Run Director so far. Thank you to Brenton Pobjie, Ben Brawn, Lettice Gamer and Jo Gamer. Pretty soon we have Triniti Pobjie coming on board for her first stint!

We unfortunately had one of our first major accidents on Saturday. We are still trying to find out how she is going, but this would be a very pertinent time to remind everyone to please “stay left”. With the change in start and finish area, we no longer have runners coming towards each other. However, there is always the possibility that someone will be trying to get past you. So please stay left so that everyone can stay on the path.

We have been doing really well with children under 11 staying within arm’s reach of an adult they know, but please continue to ensure the children at parkrun are safe.

It was great to see on Saturday so many finishers going back to encourage other people across the line. It was also great to see those finishers not crossing the finish line a second time! Well done! And we didn’t loose any tokens!

Following are some of the key results from Saturday and the photos can be found here:

The Terrace parkrun Weekly Report #8

two

Well, it’s official! We have been running for eight weeks! Well done everyone who has been a part of this journey so far: The Event Directors, the Run Directors, the Volunteers, our partners and everyone who has run and walked the course. We could have everything else in place, but if no one turned up, it would be a successful plan, but not a parkrun. You are parkrun!

Quite a few of the volunteers this week were from The Salvation Army in Raymond Terrace and Thou-Walla Community Centre! Thanks to all our volunteers!

It was another test of how we can co-exist with other people in Riverside Park and it was an experiment with an alternate course. Both went well. Please feel free to provide us with some feedback as to what you thought of the different start and finish.

We do need to mention this again. PLEASE keep all children under the age of 11 with you or an adult you know. We saw children left alone at benches and children running unaccompanied yesterday. If we see this we will be forced to forfeit the results of parents doing this. This is parkrun policy but we have been avoiding doing it. Thank you thought to those who are keeping children within arms reach.

Also please remember, unless you have a printed barcode with you, we cannot process your result. It cannot be on a phone, your hand or written in the sky. It must be printed. If it IS printed and won’t scan, we will send you the Number Checker, but they know it is only for people who have their printed barcode and it won’t scan.

Following are some of the key results from Saturday and the photos can be found here.
