Studley parkrun #21 – 16th July 2016

Another beautiful Winters morning for parkrun at Studley Park. 74 runners and walkers enjoyed a 5km warmup to their weekends.
Our volunteers were awesome this week, we even had fun again. Special thanks for Chris, Oriana and Logan for stepping up to fill the vacant tailrunner position. And to quote Andrea Scott "Photography was on point" this week, nice work Adam. Might have had a few pointers from Nada ;)

Studley parkrun #18 – 25th June 2016

Another wet morning greeted the Studley parkrunners this week but it was still a great run or walk in the park. As usual our volunteers were awesome and we have some great photos on our Facebook page.Vols

We love having visitors join us each week. This week, Albert Park legend Vin Martin joined us and left some nice words after his visit...

Mindfulness - Studley parkrun in a word. Running beside a river, along winding trails through bushland. Great course, great company, great setting. Thank you Leigh, Dave, John Pocock and all the gang at Studley for event management with a minimum of fuss.

Studley parkrun #17 – 18 June 2016

We had a good turn out this week with the course being a little muddy after the rain during the week. There were a few little detours to get around some of the puddles that nearly took over the track, but nothing our parkrunners couldn't handle.

It was great to see a large group from the Hawthorn Running Group come along to support Lorraine Bradbury run her 100th parkrun. Lorraine has run most of her 100 parkruns at Westerfolds, but seems to be a regular now at Studley, having run at about half of our events. Her event PB is 24:54, which is an age graded score of 76.84 - 8th fastest so far at Studley! Quite fitting in her 100th parkrun to finish first again this week in the age graded scores. In her 100 runs, Lorraine has also made it around to 13 different parkruns, with quite a few at other events around Melbourne.

This week we had over a third of our runners running either their first parkrun ever, or the first one at Studley. Hope you enjoyed running or walking around our scenic course and that we see you again at Studley soon.

This week's results:

Male placings:
Tim POWELL (SM25-29) of Westerfoldians, was first over the line in 19:02 - second time in 5 appearances.
Bruce ARTHUR (VM40-44) of Melbourne Midday Milers, was second over the line in 19:08 - was first to finish once before.
Stephen WARD (VM40-44) (Unattached) was third over the line in 20:08.

Female placings:
Marissa DUNELL (VW35-39) of Hawthorn Running Group, was first (12th overall) over the line in 24:07 - first appearance.

Rachel MCCLURE (VW40-44) of Hawthorn Running Group, was third (20th overall) over the line in 24:34.

Studley parkrun #16 – 11th June 2016

Sweet 16 for Studley this week and we welcomed a large group of runners from Diamond Creek Runners who were on a parkrun adventure from their usual home at Diamond Creek. We also had runners representing Hawthorn Running Group, Westerfoldians, HTC, Kembla Joggers, Old Xavierians, Pakenham Road Runners, South Melbourne AC, Spartans, Malvern Harriers and the Collingwood Harriers and Masters. Phew!
It's fun to join a club, you can meet like minded people and gets you moving more often. Google or Facebook search any of these clubs, contact them and give it a try. DCR

Studley parkrun #15 – 4 June 2016

50 brave runners joined us for a cold, wet, muddy parkrun on the Studley trails this morning!

Thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers from the Old Xaverian Athletic Club who came along and cheered everyone along whilst they helped out. We had Mark 'Bigfoot' Buyck scanning barcodes, Rene 'Renzo' Da Silva timekeeping, Winter Cross Country captains Lauren Morrison and Julie Manning as photographer and tail runner, and HTC's Laura Rostron handing out the position tokens.

parkrun has a terrific relationship with all of the local running clubs, each supporting one another in pursuit of their common health, fitness, and social goals. No less than 81 running clubs have already been represented at Studley parkrun in it's short history! Westerfoldians have been most represented, followed by Running Mums Australia, Old Xaverians, and Hawthorn Running Group. Running Clubs are a great way for runners of all ages and abilities to get together with a bunch of like-minded people to motivate themselves to improve their fitness, learn, and have fun! They also give you access to a whole host of extra winter and summer racing events organised by Athletics Victoria.

Studley parkrun #14 – 28th May 2016

Welcome to the first Studley run report! It's taken us 14 weeks to get a run report together, but we hope to have a regular wrap up of the run every week (or so). These reports will cover some of the highlights of the week's run as well as news of upcoming events.

Studley parkrun has now been going for over three months. In this time we've had 797 runners participate with 370 parkrunners of these listing Studley as their home event.

Been great to see some of our regulars regularly achieving their PB. The PB leaderboard is currently:
Stephanie Lai - 7 PBs
Cassandra Wright - 6 PBs
Oriana Dubelaar - 5 PBs
Sue Chamberlain-Ward - 5 PBs

Parkrun relies on volunteers, so thanks to the 68 volunteers who have helped out at Studley so far. We've had great support from neighbouring parkruns who have helped us get up and running, with 12 of these having volunteered at Studley but are yet to run the course! Volunteering is a fun way to participate in parkrun and a great way to get to know some of your fellow parkrunners.
