Xmas and New Year’s Day parkruns

We are not running on Xmas Day 2016, but we WILL be running at 9AM on New Year's Day, Jan 1st - 2017!

St Peters parkrun #88

This week there were 292 runners (that’s a lot), of whom 42 were first timers (they were terrified) and 62 recorded new Personal Bests (the first timers were right to be terrified! But nobody cheated, because Paul spanks cheaters. And it bloody hurts. Or so OntheJog says.) Representatives of 11 different athletics clubs took part. We probably need a “Hung Over, Tired, Middle Aged, and Over Mortgaged” running club.
Young Paul “The Spanker” Wilcock, has suggested just such thing: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sydneyparkruns/?fref=ts but you’d have to actually be a part of the Facebook to hear his idea... so there’s that.

(People who identify as) Men's placings:

  • Matthew HUDSON (SM25-29) (Unattached) was first over the line in 15:52 - 7th time in 9 appearances.
  • Glen SAUER (SM35-39) (Unattached) was second over the line in 17:34 - has been first to finish on 5 previous occasions.
  • Jason DALEY (JM15-19) (Unattached) was third over the line in 17:44 - has been first to finish on 4 previous occasions. xx

Current standing in the (People who identify as) Men's annual points competition:

  • Sven FUERST (Unattached) 2778 pts.
  • Brett TRIPP (Unattached) 2513 pts. (A PRIME NUMBER, HURRAH!)
  • David WEBSTER (Unattached) 2500 pts.

(People who identify as) Women's placings:

  • Rebecca L HOLMES (VW35-39) (Unattached) was first (14th overall) over the line in 20:31 - 5th time in 11 appearances.
  • Athene CHARIOT (VW45-49) (Unattached) was second (23rd overall) over the line in 20:57 - has been first to finish on 22 previous occasions.
  • Gillian SOHUN (VW40-44) (Unattached) was third (25th overall) over the line in 21:07. Woo hoo Gillian, that’s bloody marvellous. Nice work, particularly in such a big group. Be proud of that time. You obviously were NOT terrified at your first St Peters parkrun. Or if you were, you’ve made us all terrified for next time.

Current standing in the (People who identify as) Women's annual points competition:

  • Athene CHARIOT (Unattached) 3072 pts.
  • Kelly LEIGHTON (Unattached) 2484 pts.
  • Laurel WINTER (Unattached) 2324 pts.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:

  • Matthew HUDSON (SM25-29) was graded 81.30% for the time 15:52 (first overall).
  • Athene CHARIOT (VW45-49) was graded 77.33% for the time 20:57 (23rd overall).
  • Jason DALEY (JM15-19) was graded 77.26% for the time 17:44 (third overall).

There needs to be a competition...for the longest, least accurate, least useful description of what the points mean, and why they, and age grade scores are important. Go on, have at it. A gold star to the best attempt. When I was a wee tacker, scoring meant an entirely different thing and being older was desirable. Or at least looking older. Post your best attempts to Facebook and Silpa can judge the winner.

  • The (people who identify as) women's record is held by Bridey DELANEY who ran in a time of 00:17:27 on 2013-06-15 (event number 73).
  • The (people who identify as) men's record is held by Thomas DO CANTO who ran in a time of 00:15:30 on 2012-03-31 (event number 11). Come back Tom, we miss you!!!
  • The (people who didn’t lie about their) Age Grade course record is held by Keith BATEMAN who recorded a 93.06% run (16:48) on 11th May 2013 (event number 68).

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found here:   http://www.parkrun.com.au/stpeters/results/weeklyresults/?runSeqNumber=88

And again we beseech and implore you to check yourself out on the Facebook page and tag yourself (and anyone you see in an unflattering pose, people really love that.) Don’t worry too much if the name is wrong. Clive Palmer hardly ever double-checks his Facebook tags.

And if you don’t come for coffee with the parkrun folk (after you’ve clapped and cheered in the last runners standing)... you’ll miss out on: great company, good coffee, cavadoodles fighting, Sharon and Silpa playing strip poker with the barcodes, Dan the twerking barista, a LOT of naked runners... and a fleeting glimpse of Safety Jane, Careful Mandy and the superhero. You don’t have to know anyone.. just sidle up to an empty chair and say hello. (Not to the empty chair. To a person. Or a dog. Or an empty dog person.)

St Peters parkrun #84

This week there were 232 runners, of whom 44 were first timers and 57 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 12 different athletics clubs took part. The  timer worked, the course was exactly approximately 5kms long, there were no deaths on the hill and the super hero made a late guest appearance. Who knew that parkrun waited for no hero!?

(People who identify as) Men's placings:

  • Mike LICHTWARK (SM25-29) (Unattached) was first over the line in 17:26 - second time in 9 appearances. Ah, a grown up finished first again!  Keep it up. Jason D is likely going to be king of parkrun one day. You run representing  the slightly older, hung-over and tired bracket at parkrun, Mike. Bloody well done. Thanks for making us all look good.
  • Jason DALEY (JM15-19) (Unattached) was second over the line in 17:31 - has been first to finish on 4 previous occasions. You’re like the crown prince of parkrun and it’s so exciting seeing your times every week. Catch Mike next week, won’t you!?
  • William JENKINS (SM30-34) of Crosbie Crew, was third over the line in 18:01. WOOT! (Crosbie Crew??!!! Do you dance  as well? Tell me it’s Gangnam Style....)

Current standing in the (People who identify as) Men's annual points competition:

  • Sven FUERST (Unattached) 2692 pts.
  • David WEBSTER (Unattached) 2221 pts.
  • Brett TRIPP (Unattached) 2217 pts.

(People who identify as) Women's placings:

  • Rebecca L HOLMES (VW35-39) (Unattached) was first (16th overall) over the line in 20:03 - 4th time in 10 appearances. Rebecca! How in the heck do you do it??
  • Athene CHARIOT (VW45-49) (Unattached) was second (22nd overall) over the line in 20:55 - has been first to finish on 19 previous occasions. Athene makes parkrun look ridiculously easy. And we allknow it’s not. Thanks for the fabbo chalking again this week. You hilaire us all. When we’re not vomiting from exhaustion.
  • Zoe CAMERON (VW35-39) of Sydney Striders, was third (49th overall) over the line in 22:31. Sydney Striders? (Certainly sounds more like a running club than a twerking ensemble. Yes Crosbie Crew, we’re looking at you.)  Well done Zoe. It was tough.

Current standing in the (People who identify as) Women's annual points competition:

  • Athene CHARIOT (Unattached) 2673 pts.
  • Kelly LEIGHTON (Unattached) 2397 pts.
  • Laurel WINTER (Unattached) 2177 pts.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:

  • Jason DALEY (JM15-19) was graded 78.21% for the time 17:31 (second overall).
  • Athene CHARIOT (VW45-49) was graded 77.45% for the time 20:55 (22nd overall).
  • Alex WHITWORTH (VM70-74) was graded 77.33% for the time 23:05 (66th overall).

The Women's course record is held by Bridey DELANEY who ran in a time of 17:27 on 15th June 2013 (event number 73).
The Men's course record is held by Thomas DO CANTO who ran in a time of 15:30 on 31st March 2012 (event number 11).
The Age Grade course record is held by Keith BATEMAN who recorded a 93.06% run (16:48) on 11th May 2013 (event number 68).

Don’t forget that “unattached” means the runner hasn’t been joined to a running club. Or a dancing club. They may well twerk in the privacy of their own homes/clubs... but they haven’t told us about it. Yet. And....they could also be single. And twerkers.  But you can’t tell that from this page. If you want to meet a  romantic interest, Miley Cyrus, or another fellow twerker... hang out on the Facebook page or stop by the cafe after parkrun. The fabbo barista there is called  Dan. Tell him you’re a friend of “Favourite Kate”. Watch his face light up. Then ask him to twerk.
Do you want to voluntwerk at parkrun? Three times a year is the ideal number of times, to keep parkrun alive, from each twerker. Click this link, fill in the form and you're good to go. We always need volunteers and there are some really simple volunteer tasks that even people who are delusional enough to think running is a good idea can do.

Ms and Master Onthejog

There are heaps more photos here if this link works: (Bakerman the camera guy was at it again! As was that super cool lady who almost certainly has a name...??)  but you don't have to be a member of  The Facebook to check it out.  Have a look and make an hilarious comment about someone you don’t know, or someone you’d like to know, or someone you’d like to twerk with... but don't be inappropriate, 'cause that job has already been delegated to someone else. Guess who.
