Event #47 – April 4, 2015

Congratulation to the 170 parkrunners who greeted Easter Saturday morning with 'smiles a plenty'.

Congratulations to our first (known) male and female across the line, Simon BLACK in 19:10 and Isabeau WILLIAMS in 19:40. A big thank you to our volunteers for handling everything so well, even with a slight change at the start and finish.

There were plenty of great reasons to be out enjoying the fresh air:

  1. great fun (as usual)
  2. the weather was accommodating with breaks in the showers - outside and dry !!
  3. there were four free entries to the Sri Chinmoy Green Bridge & UQ River Run Half-Marathon being given away !
  4. PB's to chase

Course conditions were reasonably humid for an Autumn morning - the course was wet in surrounds (so wet in places - the start had to be moved), but the path was fine ... the underpasses required runners to avoid a bit of mud ... but debris and rising water were not a problem !

SHOUT OUT - Volunteers Needed - we have plenty of opportunities for volunteers in the coming weeks ... are you able to help ?

Anzac Day
Don't forget that Stones Corner parkrun will not be running on the 25 April 2015 - all parkruns will commemorate our past and present servicemen and servicewomen on this day !

1st Anniversary Reminder - BLUE Themed
Stones Corner parkrun will celebrate turning one on Saturday 2nd of May 2015 - put it in your diaries as a NOT TO MISS parkrun celebration ... start planning your BLUE outfit for the day, or ... Smurf alert ... I bet there is a waiting list for blue body paint already !

Children at parkrun ... they are an important part of our parkrun family
All children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Guardians must ensure that children place themselves appropriately so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken at the start. This is to ensure the safety of your child.

Barcode reminder
Printed barcodes are used at all our events to record your result.
No barcode = No result = No exceptions.
Don't forget about the new parkrun wristband barcodes !
#dfyb (don't forget your barcode).

Simply visit the BentLogic website to order. The cost is $6 AUD (including postage) and best of all, $2 from each key tag will be donated back to parkrun.

Cafe Elvira

Cafe Elvira offer all parkrunners free hot drinks each week on display of their barcode. All parkrunners get free basic coffee and tea, and only $2.50 for hot chocolate and chai latte (volunteers get all hot drinks free). They're open from 6-1 and can be found on the same side of the road as the library/toilets and about 300m up the road. There's always a few of us up there after the run so come say hi!
