Festive arrangements at South Bank parkrun

With Christmas just around the corner, it's time to start planning your festive season parkruns. As has become tradition, we will be holding a special parkrun on Christmas Day, starting at the usual time of 7am.

As the South Bank precinct is the heart of New Years celebrations in Brisbane, it means most of the parklands will have barriers up and restrictions in place over New Years, including the days in the leadup to New Years. As such, we are unable to hold South Bank parkrun on Saturday 31/12/2016. In addition, we will not be holding a parkrun on New Years Day either.

If you are travelling, or looking to run on Christmas Day or New Years Day, check out the list of events here:

From the team at South Bank parkrun, have a fantastic and safe Christmas and New Year.

Special Event: Christmas Day parkrun

South Bank parkrun is pleased to announce that we will be staging a special, one off parkrun on Christmas Day at 7am and we would like to invite any interested parkrunners in the Brisbane area and their family and friends to attend if they wish to.

Please note that this will be an official parkrun event and as such will count towards your run count to qualify for 10, 50 and 100 etc club membership.

A Facebook event has been created so that we can have an idea how many will be attending. Please accept this invitation, and forward it on to whoever you like, as this will help us work out how many volunteers we will need. On that subject anyone who would like to volunteer on the day please let us know.

As everyone will no doubt be anxious to get home to their presents, Christmas pudding etc the event will be held as quickly as possible so people can get away.

A few things about South Bank parkrun for those who haven't been before and especially if you are concerned by the prospect of it being a hot day . . .

1. We believe that our course is the only one in the world which has over 1k of the course under cover.
2. The pool at South Bank is right next to the finish area and is perfect for a cool down swim afterwards
3. Parking at the underground carpark at South Bank is only $2 provided you arrive after 5am and leave by 9am.

Hope to see you there.
