No Christmas or New Years event this year

Unfortunately, this year South Bank parkrun will not be holding an event on Christmas day.

We're a bit of a victim of our own success. Last years Christmas day holds the record for biggest parkrun event in Australia, and if we get a similar amount of people this year, it may mean we would be in breach of COVID-19 restrictions.

The on-going works in the parklands area also make it difficult to ensure that everyone can socially distance successully.

So we've taken the difficult step of announcing that we will not be holding an event this year at South Bank. We absolutely encourage you to check out some of the other local events.

We will still be holding our normal Saturday events - and really look forward to seeing you there

Festive arrangements at South Bank parkrun

With Christmas just around the corner, it's time to start planning your festive season parkruns. As has become tradition, we will be holding a special parkrun on Christmas Day, starting at the usual time of 7am.

As the South Bank precinct is the heart of New Years celebrations in Brisbane, it means most of the parklands will have barriers up and restrictions in place over New Years, including the days in the leadup to New Years. As such, we are unable to hold South Bank parkrun on Saturday 31/12/2016. In addition, we will not be holding a parkrun on New Years Day either.

If you are travelling, or looking to run on Christmas Day or New Years Day, check out the list of events here:

From the team at South Bank parkrun, have a fantastic and safe Christmas and New Year.
