Welcome to this week's edition of the Shepparton parkrun newsletter! This week we were lucky enough to celebrate 5 years of community based running in true parkrun style. With another hot day building, 287 parkrunners appeared to run, jog or walk their way to a perfect start to a weekend.
A very big welcome to the 24 people that completed their first parkrun and to all those who visited; including tourists from Warragul, Rosebud and Warrnambool! 14 fantastic people were also lucky enough to record new Personal Bests. We also had representatives from 7 different clubs taking part in our event this week. The number was just short of last year's anniversary record of 298, slotting into 2nd place for attendance!
This event was made possible by 14 volunteers. Many thanks go to:
Andrew NILBETT • Carmel RYAN • Chelsea NICHOLSON • Chris BANNING • Damon YOUNG • Glenda WELLFARE • Joanna FOULKES • Kerry CONNOLLY • Lionel WATERSON • Mathieu RYAN • Michelle FRENKEL • Pauline RYAN • Richard SPEEDY • Sharleen BACHELOR
We also had our tourists out and about participating at Llanelli Coast parkrun (Rowena Melbourne), Huskisson parkrun (David Doherty), Echuca Moama parkrun (Kate Dainton, Ruby Dainton & Catherine Redwood) and the launch of KM Reedy Reserve parkrun (Susan Olley).
We were also lucky enough this week to welcome a new member of the 50 Club in Michael West! Michael has completed 49 of his parkruns at Shepparton, with one event at Euroa. Since his first parkrun in February 2017, he has had 12 PB’s and has reduced his time by 9 minutes and 20 seconds. He has also volunteered twice. Congratulations on your milestone and we look forward to you joining the 100 Club!
The male record is held by Brady THRELFALL who recorded a time of 14:54 on 27th June 2015 (event number 75).
The female record is held by Tarli BIRD who recorded a time of 16:42 on 3rd December 2016 (event number 148).
The Age Grade course record is held by Annette O'SHEA who recorded 93.71% (19:04) on 29th March 2014 (event number 12).
Shepparton parkrun started on 11th January 2014. Since then 3,386 participants have completed 31,438 parkruns covering a total distance of 157,190 km, including 5,337 new Personal Bests.
