1000 Participant Milestone in 5 Weeks

Week 5 at Rockhampton parkrun saw our 1000 th participant across the finish line; a small but significant milestone.

Rockhampton has supported parkrun supurbly in its first five weeks and attendance continues to grow. There are now 771 registered members - wow!

The appeal of parkrun is obvious. It provides people with a friendly, welcoming environment where they can participate in physical activity at whatever level they please, even the pram-pushers enjoy themselves.

I may be bias, but the venue is fantastic. Rockhampton Botanical Gardens spoils runners and walkers with scenery - before you know it your 5km is done (OK, perhaps a little poetic license used on the last statement, but it would be a more difficult 5km without the scenery.)

Congratulations to Rockhampton for its support of parkrun.

And if you happen to be passing by, be sure to come and experience why over 200 locals head to the gardens every Saturday morning for a 7 am 5km walk/run social event.
