Redland Bay parkrun #146 – Saturday 28 November 2020

Welcome back everyone!  How good is it to be together again by our beautiful bay on a gorgeous Saturday morning for a huge boost of positive energy!  Thanks for joining us.

 Key stats:

  • 126 parkrunners completed our gorgeous 5km course (with a lovely high tide)
  • 20 were first timers at Redland Bay, with 11 of those completing their very first parkrun - well done!
  • 14 people achieved a new PB -  Byron Rigby, Whyatt Kelly, Rob Whitewood, Lainie Groundwater, Aden Kelly, Stephanie Gandy, Deb Miller, Amanda Dalrymple, Katrina Muller, Bailey Johnston, David Gandy, Helen Glover, Glenda Hepplewhite and Harrison Gerrard.  Awesome effort from all of you!
  • One of our regulars, Bec McVay, completed her 100th parkrun milestone, after a very long wait, thanks to our pandemic pause!   Bec has run 77 of her parkruns with us at Redland Bay, 15 at Cleveland, 7 at Sirromet and 1 at Surfers Paradise.  Bec's been parkrunning since 2017 and has volunteered 14 times.  Congratulations Bec and welcome to the black shirt milestone club!

Redland Bay parkrun #135 – Saturday 28th December 2019

A little rain shower cooled off our parkrun participants at the start of this week's event.

This week 116 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 18 were first timers and 17 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 6 different clubs took part

We also welcomed visitors from Canberra, Sirromet, Tasmania, Stones Corner , Gainsborough Greens and Auckland, NZ.


Milestones:

There were no official milestones to celebrate this week.  However we do look forward to celebrating many in 2020.

Another hot morning by the bay !

This week we welcomed 131 people who  ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 18 were first timers to Redland Bay(4 ran their very first parkrun).

Against all odds and in spite of the heat 15 champions recorded new Personal Bests.

Representatives of 11 different clubs took part.

Redland Bay parkrun #133 – 14th December 2019

A hot and humid morning by the bay this week where 101 amazing people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 14 were first timers.

We had 10 people record new Personal Bests. Amazing effort in the conditions. Congratulations: Rob Whitewood, Bob Cullen, Zach Henry, Kat Johnson, Katrina Muller, Tess Short, Kerrie-Ann Hawkins, Leo Woodward, Narelle Lavis, Paula Brown

We welcome Norm Sudbury to the 25 volunteer club. Thank you so much for your support and congratulations.

Congratulations to Mia Ruiter who completed her Junior 10 today. Well done Mia.

We also had 2 new members to the 50 club. Congratulations to Katherine H and Sharyn Leigh what a great achievement.

Redland Bay parkrun #132 – Saturday 7 December 2019

This week was hot and humid with very little breeze.

We welcomed 109 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 5 were first timers to Redland Bay (4 ran their very first parkrun).

7 people recorded new Personal Bests- great job in this heat:  Alex N, Angela B, Tess S, Brooklyn H, Amelia T, Jacob B and Warren M.

Representatives of 6 different clubs took part.

We welcomed Cheryl Bish into the 50 parkruns milestone club.  Cheryl has run 33 of her parkruns at Capalaba, 6 at Sirromet and 2 with us at Redland Bay (having recently moved to Victoria Point).  Welcome and well done Cheryl.

Redland Bay parkrun #131 – Saturday 30 November 2019

This week we enjoyed warm sunny conditions with a nice breeze to cool off to at the end.  Key stats:

  • 113 people ran, jogged and walked the course;
  • 12 were first timers;
  • 8 recorded new Personal Bests - well done to Maia A, Lisa W, Allister U, Jacob B, Greg M, Alex N, Peta Y and Deb D.
  • We welcomed visitors from Lota and a large bunch of smiling Redland Bay Homers!
  • We inducted Clare Stariha and her Mum Cathy Sutherland into the parkrun 100 milestone club.  Cathy became a great Grandma this year, and has done 51 of her parkruns with us at Redland Bay, 27 at Cleveland, and many elsewhere including at Edinburgh and St Andrew's in Scotland.   Cathy has also volunteered 6 times.   Her daughter Clare has run 70 of her parkruns at Cleveland, 16 at Redland Bay, and various other parkruns.  Clare has volunteered 7 times.  Well done ladies - it's a pleasure having you and your family as part of our parkrun community.
  • We welcomed Deon Struwig into the parkrun 50 milestone club.  Deon has done 21 of his parkruns at Redland Bay, 12 at Minnippi, and many at places we could not pronounce (in South Africa and Germany!).  Well done Deon.
  • There were many other people clocking up another 10 parkruns, on their way to their next milestone:  Steve L (200), Peter A (120), Belinda D-H (70), Amy R (20, Donna T (20) and Lilly A (10).

A high tide and beautiful conditions greeted us this morning at Redland Bay for parkrun #128. Key stats:

  • 8 were first timers at Redland Bay, with 4 of those running their very first parkrun - welcome to the family;
  • 13 legends recorded new Personal Bests;
  • We welcomed Tarryn Johnston into the 100 parkruns milestone club (black shirt);
  • We welcomed visitors from Kent and Somerset in the UK, and also from Cleveland just down the road, including the legendary John Day.
  • Representatives of 12 different clubs took part.
