New Year’s Day Run

New Years Day is the only day you can record two parkruns without traveling internationally - so Woodford and Ocean View have teamed up to give you a local option. Woodford will start at 6:30 and Ocean View at 8:30 to ensure you can drive safely between both events if you wish to ‘double’. Please note it is fine to do just one event if you choose.

Christmas Day Run

Come celebrate Christmas at Ocean View! We will be running at 7:00, and although the restaurant is not open, several people are planning on having Christmas day picnics in the grounds afterwards

Ocean View parkrun No.13

Ocean View parkrun Event number 13
4th August 2018

This week 37 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 24 were first timers and 9 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 10 volunteers:

Kelly BRIGHT • Genevieve BOURASSA • Rebecca CORBETT • Adrian TYNAN • Jarred BRIGHT • Hannah C. O. SMITH • Fiona MACLEAN • Matthew MULLINS • Peter MULLINS • Anika LEHMANN

Well done to Mitchell Wolters (junior) who PBd our course with a very tidy 47 second improvement since his first run with us.  He also happened to be first across the line and was cheering his dear “old” dad Jason Wolters to third across the line with a 24 second PB.

Our parkrunner of the month was announced for July, Anne-Maree Facey has now run 10 parkruns, all at Oceanview, she has been the first female 8 times now, her best time was scored today with 26:50 - a massive 3:05 overall improvement since her first ever parkrun with us.  Wowzers.  She is always so friendly and supportive of the other runners, such a pleasure to have around.

The PBs continued this week with Jo Doyle scoring a pretty mean one with a phenomenal improvement since her first parkrun, of 6:13!! What the?  Do you have wings Jo?

Nick Gordon PBd with a 58 second improvement, Jen Graham improved by 5 minutes!! since her first time with us and Jennifer Suosaari improved by nearly 2 minutes.

Kathy Rourke and Walter Kelemen were not shy of the PBs either.  Kathy has made a near 20 minute advance on her first Ocean View time (OMG) and Walter a 1:45 step toward going backwards in an age category due to speed alone.

Ocean View parkun No.9

Welcome to Ocean View parkrun’s run report number 9!!

This week 25 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers to our course with our Sandgate parkrun cousins coming to visit in the form of the Nisbet family (and their parkrun dog) who are parkrun icons and amazing tourists.  They have set a precedence by bringing a chocolate gift for their favourite Run Director (me; Kelly… Adrian who?).

We saw a Minnippi parkrunner cross the mighty Brisbane River and take the trek to us and also score first place, well done Rohan! Such a pleasure to meet you.  The Run Inn was also representing with the masterminds and organisers behind many a cool trail running event around Brisbane joining us; thanks to Joan, Angela, Philip and Michael.  Michael has visited us before and managed a PB on the wet and slippery course; what a dead set legend!!  Philip was also seen to be running up the relentless Mt Mee Road hill to us beforehand and still managed a pretty decent time and age grading.  Mt Mee Road never seems so bad when travelling by car…

The other personal best recorded was from Kathy; she is absolutely amazing to see powering around our course with her age grading being pretty decent too.

Our second finisher and my training buddy: Paul narrowly missed a PB and Anne-Maree, our female powerhouse came in third with Walter closely on her heels.

Jo and Sue were marvellous, scoring a decent age grade each, with Ky and her cohort just beating the hour and Jacinta a whisker over the hour.

Out voluntourist tail walker(s) made up of Amber, Marion, Zoe and Emma with the expert guide of habitual volunteer Jen rounded up the field perfectly.  Thank you so much tail walkers!

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers, thank you for making this event possible every week:

Kelly BRIGHT • Rebecca CORBETT • Steve MATHER • Emma DICKENS • David CAWTE • Darcy SUOSAARI • Jennifer SUOSAARI • Fiona MACLEAN • Anna CURRAN • Claudia SUOSAARI • Anika LEHMANN

Next week you will have neither Adrian or I (Kelly). Adrian and his family are still holidaying in the USA and I am completing the Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast with 3 other lovely local ladies. Dayboro has 3 teams in the event, so good luck to Dave, Doc, Steve and Mick as well as Anna, Fiona, Monique and Sue and my team mates Meryl, Kerry and Tia.

Your run directing team will be made up of Petrie parkunners so please show Belinda and her cohort a big Dayboro welcome.  We are so appreciative of their offer to help us, we are after all one big family!
