weekly newsletter 15 May 2012

Welcome to this week's newsletter

Ginninderra parkrun kicked off on April 28 and, at the risk of sounding controversial, I believe it is our most stunning course yet here in Australia.

Ginninderra

Set on the banks of Lake Ginninderra in the north-west suburbs of Canberra, it has a real 'UK parkrun feel' to it, partly due to fact that the Event Directors, Russ and Jess Jefferys have recently moved Down Under from Reading! It was also a great thrill to me just how nice it was to spent a weekend in Canberra. I know it gets a bit of a bad rap but we all had an absolutely fabulous weekend visiting the Australian War Memorial, Old Parliament House, New Parliament House and also the Old Bus Depot Markets. If you have never been to Canberra, book your flights now!

adidas Are Coming!

Rain, Hail or Shine, adidas is embarking on a parkrun event near you!

This Saturday, adidas will be at the Melbourne (Albert Park), Sydney (Sydney Park), and Brisbane (New Farm) parkrun events armed with the latest range of their Supernova footwear for you to trial before, during, or after your run. What better way to feel confident about your next pair of running shoes than being able to test them first. Get them as wet and dirty as you like, and then return them at the end of your run.

Also make sure you visit the adidas event area for your chance to be in the running to win great prizes on the day.

See you on Saturday!

We ask every parkrunner to volunteer 3 times a year. When volunteering you receive the maximum number of points towards the yearly competition.

Children at parkrun

All children under 11 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Guardians must ensure that children place themselves appropriately so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken at the start. This is to ensure the safety of your child.
