This week's report courtesy of Stephen D.
While it was quite a cool morning the forecast rain was pushed back to later in the day which was great for us attending parkrun! Of course regulars know the best way to get warm in winter is to go for a brisk 5km walk or run with other members of the community! The sun even came out for us!
Numbers may have been a bit down with the school holiday break but no doubt other parkruns around the state/country got a few extra visitors.
This week 125 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 10 were first timers and 15 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different clubs took part.
Participants doing their first parkrun ever included:
- Alex Nichols
- Jay Evans
- James Sansom
- Farshad Badiee
- Isaac Dakic
- Lina Marlina
- Ian Richardson
A special mention goes to Ian Richardson because it was his first time officially completing the 5km parkrun distance at a parkrun, which he did as volunteer tailwalker this week. He has also volunteered ten other times with us here at Mullum Mullum (as a marshal)! Ian has also put himself down on our roster as a marshal in the weeks ahead so please give him a special thank you as you see him on the course!
We are dependent on volunteers to keep our events running so if you are able to help out please send us an email or have a chat with the Run Director the next time you're at parkrun! There's an opportunity for everyone to participate here at Mullum Mullum parkrun!
This week Garth Calder (VM55-59) achieved the highest age grade with an impressive 77.50% age grade. Regular participants Louise McCall (VW60-64) and speedy Simon Hasell (VM35-39) were second and third ranked with 71.50% and 70.54% respectively. Simon also ran across the line as first finisher on the occasion of his 75th parkun!
Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Mullum Mullum parkrun Results Page.
Congratulations to the following people on reaching their special parkrun milestones (and getting a free parkrun t-shirt, white for junior 10, black for 100!):
- Junior 10 parkrun milestone
- Jessica Innes
- 100 parkrun milestone
- Peter Horsley (10 at MM)
- Brett Orpwood (79 at MM) Brett is also a Run Director at Mullum Mullum and regulars would know about Brett's second chance at life with a special connection to Mullum Mullum parkrun!
There was an unofficial milestone reached of 75 for Simon Hasell and 125 parkruns for Michael Webb and Mark Haldane!
Congratulations to all on their terrific achievements!
Please let us know about any milestones you're celebrating/have celebrated at Mullum Mullum via email (email@example.com) and send us a photo (or link to one) if you are happy for us to publish it.

A quick reminder to please remember to check in via QR code when you attend Mullum Mullum parkrun as a part of complying with Victorian Government requirements.
You can check in before leaving home, in your car, at or after the event. We encourage all volunteers and participants to check in each week. The Health Department knows that parkrun operates ~8-9am on Saturday so it is ok for you to check in before or after the event. You do not need to bring a phone to parkrun. More info here.
Most importantly, if you are unwell, please stay at home, do not attend parkrun.
Thanks again to those parkrunners that volunteers this week. All our scanners and the timer are required to use the updated parkrun Virtual Volunteer app on their own phones and it continues to be working much more efficiently than the old equipment that was used.
Without the 14 people below helping out we wouldn't have been able to run parkrun this week. Thanks all!

We have plenty of vacancies that we need to fill for the weeks ahead for volunteers and we'd love to have your help! It's easy, fun and everything is explained. Could you please have a look at the roster online and email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested in one of the best aspects of parkrun!
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning at Mullum Mullum parkrun!
