Please do not attend parkrun if you display any COVID-19 symptoms
When a person registers for parkrun, they agree to the ‘terms and conditions’ (policies) of parkrun. One such policy each parkrunner has agreed to is:
“Children under the age of 11 years old are the responsibility of their parents or guardians and need to be accompanied at all times before, during and after the run”
The term ‘accompanied at all times’ means near or next to.
In April 2015 parkrun Australia policy was amended to:
"all under 11s must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other designated adult of the parents' choice at parkrun events. This is an insurance requirement and local event teams have the authority to remove the results of juniors who persistently flout this non-negotiable rule."
Please note if the 'designated adult' option is chosen for an under 11 parkrunner, the 'designated adult' must be a parkrunner aged 18 years or over; and must be chosen by the parent/guardian of the child, not by any other person and in particular, not by a member of the Mount Gambier parkrun event team.
Compliance with this non-negotiable rule is expected by all parkrunners.
This amended policy is good news and definitely a win/win for children under 11 and their parents/guardians.
Please remember at all times at parkrun, the safety and protection of children, as well as adults, is paramount and of absolute importance at all times

This policy is also included in the weekly parkrun Australia newsletter that is sent out to parkrunners.
