Mitchelton parkrun – March 2016

Last weekend, we saw a NEW Age Grade course record at Mitchelton set by Anne RYAN (W 60-64 age category) who recorded a 91.26% run (20:58) at event number 141. What a blistering time!

So ... what is Age Grading you ask?

Well, all parkrun events use age grading to allow athletes to compare results.

Age grading takes your time and uses the world record time for your sex and age to produce a score (a percentage). This score allows you to compare your personal performance against other people's performances even though they might be a different age and a different sex to you - the higher the score the better the performance.

The scores can also be compared across different race distances - to allow you to, for example, compare a 5km time against a marathon.

So, congratulations from everyone at Mitchelton parkrun on your wonderful achievement and new PB, Anne!

Mitchelton parkrun started on 8th June 2013, and since then 4,924 different runners, including participants from 120 athletics clubs, have completed 31,104 runs covering a total distance of 155,520 km, and there have been 6,049 new Personal Bests.
