Manjimup parkrun #307 25th January

This week 41 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 9 were first timers, 8 of whom where first time visitors and one a local boosting the number of participants. A big welcome to The Coetzer family comprising Bradley, Roager Joshua and Hayley and the Nelson family of Kyle, Julie, Luke and Jaime. Shaun Hodgen was our local first timer so with a 3rd pace finish we hope you join us on a regular basis at King Jarrah. No new Personal Bests this week but not surprising given the warm and humid conditions.

A notable achievement for Manjimup parkrun today was the 1000th registered participant at our parkrun.  Thanks to Mark for bringing to our attention that we had reached 99 participants since commencing almost 6 years ago and with so many first timers today we were always going to pass the magic figure of 1000.  Connie Femia who was a participant at our first parkrun made the presentation to Kyle Nelson as the 1000th parkrunner at King Jarrah. We look forward to Kye coming back to run with us again in the future where he can remind us of this unique achievement. As we do for all out first timers.

The event was made possible by 6 volunteers with many thanks to:

Manjimup parkrun #285 31st August 2019

While overnight there was heavy rain with a shower passing through just prior to the start it didn't deter the 39 hardy soles who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom  were first timers and 5 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part.  The Gods however smiled on us with the sun coming out just before our timekeeper started the stopwatch. The prospect of cake with two of our junior participants achieving milestones was a motivating factor. Well done to Erin Green and Ryan Oliver on your 19th parkrun.

New PB's achieved by Karlee Roche, Alexis Green, Erin Green, Ruby Bayman and Anya Johnston. Well done to you all.

It is always great to welcome first timers to King Jarrah, whether they be locals or parkrun tourists.  Thanks to Emilia Prosser, Jenny and David Hogg (Maylands), Kelly Hall (Wanneroo) and Bryson Bayman for joining us today and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Significantly of the 39 participants today we had 12 under 10 years. It was great to have so many young participants at King Jarrah and a great vote of confidence in parkrun by the families concerned.

Manjimup parkrun #256 9th February 2019

Much smaller list of parkrunners today with many enjoying the Busselton running festival. Trust all our tourists enjoyed the change in scenery. However we still managed to attract 11 hearty soles who congratulated Ambrose Foley on his 100th run.
We had a visitor from Scotland, William Moore (home run is Camperdown parkrun in Dundee). Will was staying in Bridgetown with in-laws and is nearing the end of a 6 month visit with family and has seen an enormous amount Western Australia in his stay.
Just a few notes re Ambrose. His first Manjimup parkrun was on 30th January 2016 when he was the 6th finisher so it has taken just over 3 years to log up his 100 runs, of which 92 have been at Manjimup. During this time Ambrose has been our first finisher of 70 occasions.  I am sure you will agree this is a pretty remarkable achievement and will take some beating.  Ambrose's PB is a very credible 18.24 and holds 10th place in the fastest time league at King Jarrah. While Ambrose is about to head off to Curtin Uni to commence studies to become a professional engineer no doubt we will all get to see Ambrose at future parkruns at King Jarrah.

Good to welcome back Courtney Blakers along with young puppy. Thanks to Connie for the thought to bring some nice treats to mark Ambrose's miletone run.

Finally a special thanks to our volunteers today. As always it wouldn't be possible to keep parkrun going without your support. So big hand to Kathryn Rosinski, Julia Green, Wendy Menzie, Finn and Lilli Sundahl and Russell Candy
