Christmas Day parkrun 2019

After another sensational Christmas Day run last year, your Main Beach Run Directors, led by everyone's favourite Christmas Elf Julie, are giving everyone a Christmas Day run for your Christmas present this year! That's right, a mid week parkrun! We will have our normal run on the Saturday, then our Christmas Day run on Wednesday! Then back to normally on the following Saturday! That's an extra run to work off Christmas dinner.

Can you think of a better way to spend Christmas? I think not!!!!!

Main Beach parkrun is cancelled for 21/02/15

NEWSFLASH!

Tomorrow is the 9th ‪#‎parkrunday‬ for 2015 and due to the imminent threat of ‪#‎CycloneMarcia‬ along the Queensland coast, we have made the unprecedented call to cancel Main Beach parkrun this week.

We will be back and running as normal next Saturday the 27th of Feb.

Men's placings:

  • An unknown runner was first (it pays to bring your barcode!)
  • Shaun MACDONALD (SM18-19) of Gold Coast Victory Athletics, was second over the line in 19:00.
  • Samuel Adam JAMES (JM15-17) (Unattached) was third over the line in 19:02.

Current standing in the Men's annual points competition:

  1. Andrew John BUTTS (Unattached) 3016 pts.
  2. Peter WALKER (Unattached) 2998 pts.
  3. Patrick O'NEILL (Unattached) 2820 pts.

Women's placings:

  • Sally MATSUBARA (VW35-39) (Unattached) was first (12th overall) over the line in 20:53 - first appearance.
  • Rachael Dianne JEFFS (VW35-39) of Logan Triathlon Club, was second (17th overall) over the line in 21:25 - has been first to finish on 4 previous occasions.
  • Melissa WATSON (SW30-34) (Unattached) was third (29th overall) over the line in 22:03.

Current standing in the Women's annual points competition:

  1. Danielle WARD (Unattached) 3733 pts.
  2. Sue LIPPLEGOES (Unattached) 3167 pts.
  3. Margi JONES (Unattached) 2744 pts.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:

  • Chris DOCHERTY (VW65-69) was graded 80.85% for the time 25:51 (89th overall).
  • Anthony CROSS (VM65-69) was graded 78.54% for the time 21:45 (24th overall).
  • Michael BLACK (VM65-69) was graded 78.09% for the time 21:41 (21st overall).

This week there were 274 runners, of whom 31 were first timers and 29 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 16 different athletics clubs took part.

Main Beach parkrun started on 2nd April 2011, and since then 4,888 different runners, including participants from 175 athletics clubs, have completed 32,800 runs covering a total distance of 164,000 km, and there have been 6,232 new Personal Bests.

The women's record is held by Lauren MITCHELL who ran in a time of 00:17:52 on 2014-04-26 (event number 155).
The men's record is held by Martin DENT who ran in a time of 00:14:43 on 2014-11-29 (event number 184).
The Age Grade course record is held by Rowan WALKER who recorded a 92.44% run (15:13) on 28th June 2014 (event number 164).
