By now you may have received an email congratulating you on your place and your time of 59 minutes, 59 seconds (the system default time for an untimed run). Unfortunately we had a major equipment malfunction with our timer today with the eventual outcome that all times have been lost. Unfortunately, the only way to know when a piece of equipment is about to break down in this way is retrospectively when it stops working. Options have been considered for trying to come up with approximate times, but while we know some runners have faithfully timed themselves and could give us a few points of data to work from, that would mean 95% of runners would have to be given incorrect times which they may not wish to have. We do try very hard to give you a great event every week, but unfortunately this week times are not something that we can provide. We feel for those who earned PBs in particular. If you know your time and want to record this somewhere, we recommend logging a "freedom run" (follow the link to your profile in today's parkrun email).
You may find that your place in the email/web results is much lower than was on your finish token. The first sign of the timer failing to work was it suddenly registering dozens of "button clicks" without any buttons being pressed. At the time (with the hope that the data could be saved) the best option was to pocket the corresponding finish tokens and keep the finish token numbers in synch with the timer's numbers. The known "non-existent runners" have been removed now that places have been processed, and places have come down as a result.
This week 195 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 11 were first timers. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 9 volunteers:
Lu BOSH • Steve TRUTWIN • Helen CHESTERMAN • Murray HEAD • Grant CHESTERMAN • Laura • Joanne DOLLARD • Sarah • Jaymie
