Christmas Day parkrun

As has been the tradition, Ipswich Qld parkrun will take a break on Christmas Day. The team wishes everyone all the best for the holiday season and are looking forward to cheering you on in the forthcoming weeks.

parkrun “NO BARCODE – NO RESULT” policy

There seems to be some confusion at present surrounding the parkrun ‘No Barcode – No Result’ policy.  As there are quite a few parkrunners presenting at the scanning table every week without their barcode, I thought it was timely to remind everyone that this is a policy of parkrun everywhere, not just Ipswich, and we must follow this policy.

In the past we may have been a little generous and bent the rule on occasions, however going forward we will only be recording a ‘manual’ result where the barcode is unable to be scanned.

Below is the policy for your attention. Please take the time to read it to ensure that you won’t be offended if we are not able to scan your barcode or give you a ‘manual’ result at future events. If you have a problem on event day with the policy you should direct your enquiry to the Run Director or myself, rather than the Barcode Scanning volunteer.

We do not accept an image of the parkrunner’s personal barcode on a mobile phone. These do not scan and the finisher will not receive a result. If you wish to have a result at future events, you will need to print a barcode.

In order to receive a recorded result, parkrunners must present their personal barcode after finishing. We will not manually record results for runners who attend without their barcode, but they are still free to enter. The runners will appear as an “Unknown Athlete” on the results page.

Should you be introducing a new parkrunner, please encourage them to register and print a barcode before their first event.

Runners without a personal barcode will still be handed a finish token as they cross the finish line. Runners turning up with unscannable barcodes (torn, tattered, sweat stained, dirty, or misprinted) will be recorded and entered manually, but will be asked to reprint the barcode for future runs.

The current scanning devices do not read from smartphone screens.

parkrunners can reprint their barcode by accessing “manage my profile” from the weekly newsletter and results emails, or alternatively by having an email reminder sent, via this link -

If you wish to purchase a more permanent form of your personal barcode, visit the Bent Logic website for details on how to purchase a key tag or wrist ID band.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or wish to discuss an issue, via email or mobile 0409 478 811.

Kind Regards

Kay Sherlock (Event Director)

Is your barcode torn, tattered, sweat stained, dirty, misprinted or lost? Never forget your barcode again!

We will be placing a bulk order for the parkrun Athlete ID key tags and silicone Wristbands with the final and only order being placed on 2 April 2016.

ID TAGS - $6.80 each ($2 from each tag will be donated back to parkrun)

This is the most convenient way to carry your parkrun Athlete ID barcode - on a durable plastic key tag.

These tags can be attached to your car keys, shoelace, necklace, wristband or zip, and can contain your name, Athlete ID number and ICE (In Case of Emergency Phone Number).

This information will be printed onto the tag, including your all important barcode. The parkrun logo will be printed on the other side as shown.

WRISTBANDS – $21.50 each

The wristbands can contain your Name (maximum 30 characters); Athlete ID Number; any Medical Conditions that need to be listed (maximum 30 characters), and your ICE (In Case Of Emergency Phone Number).

The easiest way to check your size is to use a length of string or strip of paper and put it around your wrist and tape the ends together at a comfortable length, ensuring that it is not tight and also does not slip off your hand. The wristbands come in 3 sizes - 180mm (SMALL), 190mm (MEDIUM) and 202mm (LARGE). (see photo below)

Please be very careful when measuring as they will be non-returnable to the manufacturer if the incorrect size is ordered and they cannot be changed. You must also ensure that all details provided are correct. If there are errors, replacement wristbands, including postage, will be charged to you again.

The parkrun silicone wristbands are waterproof and durable and can be worn in everyday usage. Please note that like all silicone and rubber bands if they are nicked, cut or constantly overstretched they may snap over a shorter period of time. The manufacturer’s warranty will not cover items returned having suffered such treatment.

Order via the order sheet at the parkrun scanning table. You are responsible for correctly writing the information onto this sheet, as this is what will be submitted to Bent Logic. Please print all details carefully and sign the form.

Pay cash to Kay at parkrun or via Bank Transfer to:

Account Name: KAY P SHERLOCK
Account BSB: 484-799
Account No: 086693830 (use your name or athlete ID as the reference)

Orders will only be placed for the payments that have been received by lunchtime Saturday, 2 April 2016.

Please email if you have any questions.
