Grand Ridge Rail Trail parkrun, Mirboo North – Event number 35

28th December 2019

On this, our last parkrun for 2019, 33 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers and 2 recorded new Personal Bests.

It was a warm morning - our best weather on a Saturday morning since GRRT parkrun started in April this year. With the holiday season upon us, visitors clearly outweighed locals this morning with parkrunners from Albert Park, Adelaide, Emerald QLD, Traralgon, Churchill, Maribyrnong and Newborough visiting us at GRRT!

As usual, the run itself was lovely weaving through the high reaching trees of the Strzelecki Ranges. It was so sheltered at still amongst the trees as the runners, joggers and walkers tracked along the trail.

Our RD for the day was Cara who on her debut event is our newest Run Director! She did a fabulous job and chatted to our visitors to find out where they were all from. Russell from Maribrynong told Cara that their course is the fastest in Victoria - they were just recently pipped for the country by an Adelaide parkrun, but they still maintain the quickest female time of around 14 minutes!

Post parkrun coffee was enjoyed at a jam packed Jimmy Jambs cafe on this beautiful morning!

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers:

Glenn, Dale, Dana, Stacey, Jodie, Katrina, Libby, Trina, Allira, Paula and Cara.

See you all next week for our first parkrun of 2020 - unless you squeeze in an extra on New Years Day! Neighbouring parkruns Koonwarra, Churchill, Traralgon and Newborough are all hosting additional parkruns on the New Year’s Day PH. Check their Facebook pages for varying start times.
