Gindy parkrun 171 – 8 August

A cold and foggy morning greeted our 131 runners for Ginninderra parkrun #171, including our parkrun visitors from Newcastle.
While the fog was still hanging around as our first runners crossed the finish line, the sun began to peak through as our final runner, four year old April Barlow completed her third parkrun.

Run Director, Chris Lamb gave a shout out to all our regular parkrunners who were poised to run the City2Surf over weekend. Congratulations to all who ran, we hope you had a great run.

Chris also reminded us about the importance of volunteering to help ensure parkrun can go ahead each week. If you are able to help, email ginninderrahelpers@parkrun.com. Big thank you to this week’s volunteers: Roger Abbott, Natty B, Carlie Craddy, Christopher Lamb, Lara-Kym Lever, Tania Marx, Tim West, Gemma Wilson and Olivia Wilson.

Jetting juniors

Three incredible juniors finished in the top four this week. Hannah Cadden (JW11-14) joined the women’s sub-20 minute list with a PB time of 19:36. Hannah was the first female across the line and second overall this week.
Ethan Garbutt (JM11-14) was the second male and third overall in a time of 20:18, and pushing him all the way to the finish was Meg Freeman (JW11-14) who was fourth overall and the second female in a PB time of 20:18.

Magic century

Judith Williams completed her 100th parkrun with a leisurely walk this week. Judith ran her first parkrun in January 2013 in a time of 24:22 and holds a PB of 21:50. She regularly features in the top female placings list, including being the first female across the line eight times which puts her in 9th spot on the all time first finishers list.

Judith has completed 99 runs at Ginninderra, with Albert Park in Melbourne making the 100, and has volunteered 12 times. Judith’s speed and volunteering has seen her take out the female points score award for the past two years.
Congratulations on completing 100 fantastic runs!
