FESTIVE ARRANGEMENTS

There are only two days of the year where parkrun events take place outside of a Saturday morning... Christmas Day and New Year's Day.You can find out more on our special events page.

On Christmas Day we'll host a special event at 08:00.

Some of our neighbouring parkrun teams are also hosting events.

Participants will be able to register at most ONE event on Christmas Day.

On New Year's Day we'll host a special event at 08:00.

Why not start off the New Year with a parkrun adventure? Some of our neighbouring parkrun teams are also hosting events, allowing you to "do the double"...

Participants will be able to register at most TWO events on New Year's Day.

Coburg parkrun # 99 – 25/03/2017

Welcome to the 99th edition of Coburg parkrun run report.

parkrun T-Shirt event

To mark Coburg parkrun cracking a century next Saturday (1 April 2017 certainly no April Fool's Day on this matter), we are hosting a parkrun milestone T-shirt event.

If you've already got a milestone t-shirt, we'd love you to wear your most recent one to Coburg parkrun next week.

If you're still working on reaching your first milestone, please wear the colour of that milestone:

- Aubergine / purple for the volunteer 25-club
- White for the junior 10-club
- Red for the 50-club

We'll take a couple of photos at 07:50 before Pete sends you off for your free, weekly, timed 5km!

As with all parkrun celebrations, your participation in the theme is entirely optional.

For more information, please visit our Facebook page.

To create a safer parkrun environment #defibs4parkrun

We have been campaigning for fund raising to purchase a defibrillator for Coburg parkrun in the last couple of months.

Thank you for your generosities we have raised $1,500 so far.  As mentioned by Pete our Event Director of Coburg parkrun during Saturday briefing, Coburg parkrun is fortunate enough to receive funds from other parkruns which have raised more than $2,000.  Now we have purchased our defibrillator.

However, our effort is not going to stop there.  We are continuing to raise funds in order to help out other parkruns to achieve this goal.  If you have not donated,  please visit our fund raising page.

Welcome along first timers

14 first timers came along to Coburg parkrun: Jordi BATES, Andrew DOOD, S M, Tim WALTER, Phillip GRANTHAM, Matthew MATIN, Liana KENT, Paula HEENAN, Geoff WALTER, Teresa STOKES, Peter ATTEWELL, Stuart HUGHES, Simon CHESTNUTT, and Lilly LARRIS.  Hope to see you again soon.

Congratulations on achieving new pb

18 parkrunners have achieved new PB this week:  Jordan FUESSEL, Guillaume ZALA, Sam TABIT, Luke NAIMO, Tim WARDROP, Joe SUSTARIC, Evan BOTTCHER, Andy STEWART, Dominic BREEN, Daniel VERSACE, Tim HOFMAN, Andrea KNEEN, Keith STEPHENS, Rebecca DYER, Levina HONEYMAN, Corinne DENNY, Melissa BROWN and Johanna FAHEY.

This week volunteers

Freya SHAW (Pre-event setup), Robert RUSSO (Timekeeper), Jo STAVERS (Finish Tokens), Karen LOWRY (Barcode Scanning), Roger LAY (Marshal), Monica BASU (Photographer), Olivier DAVID (Tail Runner) and Rebecca KIRBY (Run Director).

If you run at Coburg parkrun on a regular basis, we appreciate you to volunteer at least 3 times a year.  It is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to parkrun.  What’s more, you get to meet your fellow parkrunners and share your running experience and journey.

No barcode no time no exeption

It is worth setting yourself a Friday night reminder to bring your barcode.  We don’t want you to miss out on a PB do we? Printed barcodes are used at all parkrun events globally to record your results. Unfortunately, our barcode scanners can't scan mobile phone screens. You can collect and print your barcode from parkrun.com. Alternatively, you can order your barcode on a laser engraved silicone wristband from Bent Logic.

Do remember to return

The cute little thing (aka the finish tokens) to us.  They are not souvenir and certainly very expensive to replace.  We really appreciate if you would get your results scanned as soon as you cross the finish line and return these little guys to where they belong.

Thank you to Katherine ANDERSON, Marcus DENNY, Karlene HILTON, John HOWE, Hannah MARTIN, David NOLAN and Simon SHAW who put on this week’s event for us. We’re very grateful to the help provided by everybody, both now and in the past, who’ve helped make Coburg parkrun happen.

If you’ve not had the chance to volunteer at parkrun in the past four months, we have lots of opportunities for you to get involved over the next few weeks. Please take a look at our roster to see how you can help. We ask that all participants volunteer three times per year so that your free local community event can continue in a sustainable manner.

Photographs

We’d no volunteer photographer this weekend but Pete snapped a few shots with his phone after finishing.

Feel free to supply some captions :-)

We’re looking for a volunteer photographer for next weekend, so please do get in touch if you can help.

Safety and #defibs4parkrun

We want Coburg parkrun to be the safest possible environment for our community to get together and exercise. However we have identified that, as things currently stand, we do not have ready access to a defibrillator. As such we’ve made it our goal for 2017 to change that.

Please help us raise $2,000 to purchase a defib for Coburg parkrun.

For more information or to make a donation visit our fundraising page.

What you give today will help ensure the safety of all parkrunners in the future.

Thank you all for your support, we really appreciate it.
