Event #331 – 21 September 2019

331.21Sep2019A

From the Run Director

180 of you rocked up for parkrun this morning, and what a fabulous morning it was! The weather was perfect and 29 of you obtained a PB - AMAZING!

Our first finisher was one of our juniors Laura McKillop in a speedy 19:13 followed by Chris Merder in 19:26 - well done to you both.

We welcomed a handful of first timers today including some tourists from Hobart and New Zealand - we hope you enjoyed our course as much as we do - and hope that you return again one day.

Our wonderful volunteers today were :-

Peter and Hayden Hicks * Lindsie Richardson * Deana Moss
* Mike Tyndall * Gareth Taylor * Darren & Adam Grashuis * Margaret Clodd * Denise Merchant * Amanda Conner *

Thank you! Without you all, parkrun #331 would not have gone ahead.

We welcomed some new members to milestone clubs today (see our pictures below).  Congratulations to Heather Spalton and Marie Walsh for reaching the 50 club and Danny Walsh to the 100 club!  The majority of all your runs were completed at Cleveland.  What a fantastic effort!

Next week our rosta is FULL but the week after we are after 12 volunteers as it is pacer week - If you have run 10 times and have not volunteered please consider giving it a shot - all positions are easy and fun - (except maybe the 20 minute pacer - haha!)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Lisa - RD

Event #324 – 3 August 2019

324.3Aug2019A

From the Run Director

Oh what a beautiful morning......!

165 parkrunners & parkwalkers; 9 first-timer parkrunners, 11 tourists (including visitors from Berrinba, Grafton & Wynnum); 23 new PBs with lots of wonderful celebratory bell ringing!.

Thanks to our 9 volunteers who ensured everything went off without a hitch on course and at the finish line, and to our 10 pacers who all managed to come within seconds of their allotted times. Thanks to those who responded to my plea for volunteers in future weeks. Our roster is looking much healthier....but we still have room for you. Check out the future roster on our website and drop us an email, or comment below

Congratulations to Graham Manson who celebrated his 50th parkrun today with a PB!  Congratulations also to Mike Tyndall who celebrated his 100th run last week at Wynnum; and to Tony McGill who celebrated his 100th run last week at Minnippi (see our photos below).

Photos will be uploaded later today on our FB page.

Finally, thank you so much to you all for being part of my Run Director journey over the last five years. I have loved doing my bit to bring parkrun to you each week. I have loved seeing your exhilaration (or exhaustion) as you cross the finish line, coercing you into volunteering, and just having a good old chat! You are a fabulous bunch of people, and I have made some wonderful (& lifelong) friends. But fear not....I am only hanging up my RD hat to travel and concentrate on some other things for a while, and will still be parkrunning. After all, what else is there do at 7am every Saturday.

Over and Out
