Congratulations to Carole Woodmore, for completing her 100th parkrun event. An amazing effort, well done. A special shout out to this week's first place finisher, Clayton Warden-Flood, who vowed last week to try harder, after coming so close to the course record. Well...... he came back and kept his word. After almost 5 years, the course record of 16.03 held by Adrian Potter (15th Oct '16) has fallen to Clayton, who smashed a new course record of 15.45, taking over 30 seconds off his previous time at Christies Beach.

Our thanks go out to every volunteer for creating another fabulous event for Christies Beach and the surrounding community. Without these amazing people, we cannot make parkrun magic. Please put your hand up and get involved in volunteering on our future rosters. Check in with the event team and volunteers after you finish parkrun, message via our socials or email your request to christiesbeach@parkrun.com

Christies Beach parkrun Event number 224 21st August 2021

A barely double degree morning with strong winds greeted our parkrunners. Steven Bament celebrated his 50th parkrun, whilst junior parkrunner, Finn Gunton, checked off his 10th event finish. Congratulations both, a great effort all round. Also this week, whilst it's not an official milestone, Kat Galloway made her 100th appearance at Christies Beach this morning. Kat has always brought a huge smile with her at the Espy and has contributed by volunteering at previous parkrun events. Thanks Kat, we greatly appreciate your generosity and efforts.

Glenn Taylor, Area Manager for our national sponsors The Athlete's Foot, came down to the Espy today with a selection of Mizuno footwear for parkrunners to try on as they did completed the event. The 'Run Before You Buy' opportunity is a great way to showcase some of the amazing technology that goes into the making of competitive footwear and a chance for some discount vouchers for use in The Athlete's Foot stores. An ongoing thank to The Athlete's Foot and their teams for their contribution and commitment to parkrun Australia.

A big thank you to all our volunteers this morning, led by local sponsor Katrine Hildyard MP, ensuring another great event for the local community and those travelling from further afield.
