Chermside parkrun Event #37 – 21st May 2016

Thank you to the 154 parkrunners who joined us for Chermside parkrun #37 this morning.  We are seeing lots of PBs in the cooler weather with 53 of you smashing out a PB, that's more than 1/3 of our runners!  Congratulations to our first finishers Andy Dey in 17:58 for the boys and Annabelle O'Hara in 20:14 for the girls.

Special congratulations to Les Williams for completing his 100th parkrun today! Les has also volunteered 18 times and he and his wife Laurene are parkrun stalwarts, and not just at Chermside. Les began his parkrunning at New Farm parkrun way back in 2012, moved to Mitchelton when it started, and has recently been running and volunteering at Chermside. To top it all off, Les recently underwent eye and heart surgery but barely missed a week of parkrun during that time, still coming along to volunteer when he wasn't able to run. Thank you Les, you're a deadset parkrun legend!

Thank you as always to our awesome volunteers who made the event run so smoothly. Thank you as well to Melissa Murphy of Centenary Aquatic Centre and Health Club for the warmup and LJ Hooker Chermside for the drinks.

Chermside parkrun Event #36 – 14th May 2016

Thanks to everyone that got themselves out of bed on a cool morning to come and and run and walk with us this morning!

164 of you made it and 41 personal bests were achieved! That's nearly a quarter of the field! Sometimes, it really is a good idea to get out of bed on a cool winter morning, instead of hiding under the sheets. And a hearty well done to Jen Kluver and Jacqui Nightingale for reaching their 50th runs.

And as always, thanks to our volunteers, particularly as we reach the end of National Volunteer Week! Volunteers make the parkrun world go 'round!

Chermside parkrun Event #34 – 30th April 2016

Thank you to the 174 parkrunners who joined us for a mostly rain-free run/walk in 7th Brigade Park this morning. Well done to our first finishers David Bernard and Melissa Murphy.

Congratulations to Bradley Lacey and Lucas Hickey who won free entries to the Queensland Half Marathon event. For anyone else interested in going, if you enter the special code 'parkrun' (without the quotes) when you register, you will get the early bird price. But the special code is only valid until midnight tonight (April 30th).

Thank you as always to our awesome volunteers who made the event run oh-so smoothly. Thank you as well to Melissa Murphy of Centenary Aquatic Centre and Health Club for the warmup and LJ Hooker Chermsidefor the drinks.

Next week is pacer week and combined with the cooler weather, PBs are going down!! Booyah!
