The air was heavy with clouds, not of the meteorological but entomological kind. We are reliably informed that there are over 55 mosquito species recorded in the greater Lower Hunter and Mid-North Coast region. At Blackbutt, chances are we have every single one of those species, each one in their thousands!
Despite this, and the substantial challenges of hills AND humidity, 156 enthusiastic runners fronted up at the Pure Performance Sports start line for Event #81, ably supported by a swarm of dedicated volunteers.
This week we were pleased to award our January parkrunner of the month to Robert Hoare. Fittingly, Robert was volunteering this week as photographer. He has run 54 parkruns in total, all but two of them right here at Blackbutt. Robert has improved his time at Blackbutt by 50 seconds, and is a great promoter of #dfyb. Most pictures of Robert taken at Blackbutt show him proudly holding up his laminated barcode. Congratulations Robert!
Wooter club runner and parkrun diehard Maddy Herbert today became a Region of Runners 'Regionnaire', meaning she has completed every one of the ten RoR (Region of Runners) parkruns at least once. Congratulations Maddy!
Another milestone was Corey Newman shaving an astounding 21 seconds off her PB, set last week. Apparently, on parkrun eve this week, Corey gave herself a good talking to! It seems to have worked. Well done Corey.
Thanks to this week's volunteers
