NO - we will now be not holding an event on New Years Day 2021, as the Blackbutt Reserve has been booked for some large event to be held on the upper level just above our start line. Trucks and other vehicle movements are expected between 8am and 9am that have caused us to cancel Blackbutt on that day.
Blackbutt parkrun is cancelled on 2021-09-18 – Due to current COVID-19 restrictions
Blackbutt parkrun will once again be holding a New Year parkrun at our wonderful venue - normal start time at 8am on New Years Day - and this will give runners / walkers enough time to easily make the start of The Beaches parkrun at 9:30am.
We welcome anyone who want to experience a great downhill bush run (well the finish IS lower than the start at least, there are just a few big hills in between!) - start the year with a resolve to achieve great things in 2019 - and enjoy the cameraderie and friendly atmosphere at Blackbutt
We are planning to run on Monday 1st January 2018 at 8:00am at the beautiful Blackbutt parkrun - hopefully we will be back on our regular course by then, but no guarantees of that. Newy and Lakeview have so far indicated that they are also holding an event on the day at 8am, and many runners are planning a mass visitation to The Beaches at 9:30am (some even planning to run/ride from those events to The Beaches!)
Maximum scanning of your barcode is TWO times on New Years Day - so please adhere to the rules.....but so far it would be impossible to reach three events locally anyway!
Hopefully we will have a great turnout of regulars and visitors ready to experience our hills and bush setting (remember no dogs permitted at Blackbutt Reserve!) - everyone welcome!
As part of the three-peat we will again be the second of three events - start at 7am at Lake Mac parkrun, travel to Blackbutt parkrun for your dose of hill work, then off to Newy for the final flat sprint........happy days! See you all there for a fun and challenging three-peat!
B's were buzzing at the Butt as 110 runners congregated at the beautiful Blackbutt Reserve for our 2nd anniversary celebration.
parkrun medals were awarded to the winners of the annual points competition. Those who win these awards are usually those with the highest participation rates, as well as some volunteer stints during the year.
The dress-up theme for the day was the letter "B" so we had....
And an uncharacteristically placid black swan! (Best cake ever Lisa!!)
Photos thanks to Steven. Great work Steven!
