Leah Bicknell has reached the Junior Club 10 in great form with a PB and her First Female Finisher. Leah joins a growing group of Bendigo juniors who have already reached the 10 milestone. Well done also to our First Finisher John Robinson.

parkrun recognises several different milestones, Junior Club 10, 50 Club, 100 Club and 25 Volunteer Club. When you reach these milestones you are eligible for a free Tee from Tribesports.  These are currently on backorder but you will be notified via email once you are able to order, hopefully that will be later this month.

Volunteers

Thank you to those who made today happen Aaron JOB  •  Andrea SMITH  •  Bec WELSH  •  Beth LAVERY  •  Brett MCCLURE  •  Jen POLLARD  •  Lou BRAY  •  Scott ELLIS. parkrun doesn't happen without volunteers so get on board and join us by emailing bendigohelpers@parkrun.com, messaging our Facebook page or after your run.

Photos

Thank you to Aaron who took some great photos today. Feel free to tag, upload or share your photos. Thanks to the Gazelles we do have a camera if you don't have your own and would like to be a volunteer photographer.

Under 11 policy and bikes/scooters on course

parkrun policy states that all under 11s must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other designated adult of the parents' choice. If you are not able to run with your child, you can ask another adult to run with them - we can try and help if you let us know before the start.

We believe that bicycles or scooters and runners do not mix. The risk of injury to runners and children are too high and ask you do not have your child or friend accompany you on these.

Upcoming Events

We are spoilt with a couple of local running events in May. The inaugural O'Keefe Rail Trail Marathon has a variety of events for all levels on May 1. On May 7 the Mothers Day Classic will be held just down the road at Beischer Oval covering everyone's favourite hill up Crook st. You can run 4 or 8k run or do the walk which starts a little later.

Thank you all for joining us and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Bendigo parkrun 35 report

Bendigo parkrun number 35 saw another big turnout. Thanks to the 130 people who came out to run or walk in the 76% humidity and 20 deg heat before the day warmed up.
Why do YOU do parkrun?I was asked this question on Saturday. Being part of parkrun is about being active in a friendly environment, meeting new people, and promoting being active. Parkrun allows you to compete against yourself and or others by comparing times each week. Volunteering offers the chance to can give back to the community. These are some of the responses I received when I asked others the same question:
To contribute to my physical health
To accompany a friend / family member
To train for another running event or sport
To control my weight
To contribute to my mental wellbeing.
A constant stream of runners and walkers had the volunteers on their toes at the finish line. Bridie BLAKE-BURROWS was our first female over the line. Alex Van Ruiswyk was the first finished even though I tried to send him back around for a third loop not realising he was done.

PLEASE Bring Your PRINTED Barcode: NO barcode = NO result
Please bring PRINTED barcodes only as unfortunately barcodes on mobile phones cannot be scanned so will not be accepted.
Printed barcodes are used at all our events to record your result.
You must print out your barcode on paper, if you are particularly forgetful please bring a spare this Saturday and we will put in our parkrun barcode holder (commonly known as a business card holder). We will have this at the scanning table each week for you.
Or you could order some of the durable plastic key tag's or a wrist band from http://bentlogic.com.au/parkrun.html

Volunteering
Volunteering is an important part of parkrun, without them you couldn’t provide the great event that parkrun is. Thank you to Paul Fallon, Russell Jarvis, Lou Bray, Judy Fitt, Meagan Jones, Brendan Zoch, Rhianna Wik-Gamble, Anthony McDermott and Jenny Boak. We ask all parkrunners to volunteer at one in five runs. This helps us keep parkrun going. Follow this link to volunteer http://wwwparkrun.com.au/bendigo/volunteer/

Sponsors
In order to provide this free timed event, Bendigo parkrun is proudly sponsored by Suncorp, Stockland, VicHealth and supported by the City of Greater Bendigo. Thanks also to The Athletes Foot, Bendigo, who are the proud sponsors of the “parkrunner of the Month” award and Gazelles Run Group.

Reminders

Runners, walkers, dogs, cyclists, possibly a kangaroo and maybe a snake or two all share the marvelous paths at Kennington Reservoir and surrounds. Ensure you stay to the left and be courteous to other users of this beautiful park. If you are only doing one loop of our two loop course please DO NOT go through the finishing chute.

See you next week.
