Aveley Christmas parkrun fancy dress

Just a reminder that our Christmas fancy dress parkrun is this Saturday, December 19th

Fancy dress is optional, but we would love to see a flood of Santas, Elves or whatever you choose to dress up in!

Please bring a plate to share as we will be having a social get together after the run, if you would like to join us.

Please try to get there by 7.45 as we would like to start the run brief a little earlier as we have a few announcements to make!

See you on Saturday

New course record!

Aveley parkrun
Event number 115
10th October 2015

Matt Smith celebrated his 50th parkrun in style by breaking the course record with a time of 15:29 - congratulations Matt!

We again had fresh fruit courtesy of Aveley IGA - it was very much appreciated and went down well as it was warm out there!

Next week we aim to have pacers - so if you have been chasing a parkrun PB and would like some help - this Saturday (17th) could be your chance. We are also looking for people that will offer to pace - so please let us know if you are interested

Our proposed children's week parkrun on 24th October is promising to be a great day - our aim is for the children to 'run the parkrun' and take on all the volunteer roles with only limited assistance from the run director. The roster is filling up nicely but there are still slots left - so if you are keen to help, please let us know

Celebrate Children’s week at Aveley parkrun

Saturday 24th October is the start of Children's week - an annual event run throughout Australia which celebrates the right of children to enjoy their childhood and encourages them to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.

With this in mind, Aveley parkrun would like to encourage all the children that regularly attend our parkrun to run the show! We will open up the volunteer roster to children only that day and would like as many children as possible taking part - we would like at least 2 children per role so that as many children as possible participate and get to have a go at volunteering.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay with their children if they wish and the event director will be on hand to assist where needed.

We will need
Run director
Timekeeper
Tokens
Barcode scanner x2
Tail runner
Photographer

All of the roles as are easy to do (some of your parents manage ok!) there's no pressure, you will be shown what to do, so put your name forward and come and have a go.

So come on Aveley parkrun kids - step up and volunteer and show the adults how easy it is! You can let us know on our Facebook page, at the run on the next 2 Saturdays or by email to aveleyoffice@parkrun.com
