Aveley parkrun, Event number 47

Aveley parkrun
Event number 47
31st May 2014

It was the last day of Autumn,

At the Central park in Aveley,

parkrunners made their way in,

From Perth, Brisbane and Kalgoorlie.

As the run director arrived, he couldn’t believe his eyes,

A truck parked on the course, the workers were off eating pies,

The course was changed, with a fancy loop on the end,

Will me make 5k, with this extra amend?

So parkrun continued, a truck won’t stop us!

32PB’s were to be had, that seemed a bit suss,

But we checked the garmins, the runkeepers and GPS,

5001 meters!  You guys are the BEST!

Aveley parkrun #36

Aveley parkrun
Event number 36
15th March 2014

This week at Aveley parkrun was one of the most beautiful days we have had since launching last July. It was perfect weather conditions for a wander through the park and 81 people took up the 5k.

Faster than you could say ‘Don’t forget your barcode’, Dean Menzies ripped up the course and took out the course record again in 15:46, smashing his previous run by 40 secs. Great effort Dean!

A total of 33 pb’s was achieved as well which is an amazing effort.  A lot of these were PB’s were gained by shaving minutes off their previous time, have some of you been practising?

And we can’t go without mentioning the first timers… 23 legends came to see us for the first time today. We hope you enjoyed your morning!

It's not all about PB's though, as long as you are enjoying you time with us and enjoying the beautiful park land, that is all that counts.

Men’s course record smashed!

Aveley parkrun
Event number 33
22nd February 2014

The long standing men's course record was given the move on notice today as Dean Menzies came in and swept up the first finisher position and took 45 seconds off from Matt Smith's record set way back on Event 11 (21/9/13). parkrun number 21 – the one where we got naked!

Aveley parkrun
Event number 21
30th November 2013

A somewhat cooler start to the run this week - this was reflected in the times - 20 PB's out of 55 runners!

This week was all about running naked - running without the aid of technology. Runners were encouraged to leave their watches, ipods, phones and GPS at home and just run. We had a little wager whereby runners predicted their finish times and put a $1 in the pot - the person closest to their predicted finish would win the pot!

Congratulations to Alan Raven - he was just 1 second off his guess and bagged $21!
