New Years Day 2020

Ashgrove will be running a parkrun on New Years day, 2020. This special event will be on WEDNESDAY the 1st January 2020. It will be run at the special time of 8.30am!!

Come and get your year off to a great start with a New Years day run!!

Dogs at parkrun

We had an unfortunate incident today where one of our parkrunners was bitten by the dog of another parkrunner while on the course. Fortunately it was only a minor injury but it does highlight the need for dog owners to make sure they have full control of their dogs at all times.

If you are going to be running with a dog (parkrun rules allow only one dog per person) you must ensure it is under you control on a short lead at all times. This also means no tying dogs up to be left alone along the course or at the start line. If your dog cant run 5km, it would probably be happier being left at home.

If you think your dog may not like large crowds or be spooked it should have a muzzle or just be left at home.

You must also unsure your dog and lead does not trip or interfere with other runners or members of the public.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and help with this issue to make parkrun a safe and fun event for all participants and the public.

Ashgrove parkrun on Facebook

We post a lot of our updates and info on Facebook. Check us out here -

Each week we post event photos and other information as well.

Barcode scanning policy on phones and smart watches

Over the past few weeks we have had a small minority of parkrunners attempting to have their smart phones scanned, rather than their printed barcodes.

It is global parkrun policy that event teams ONLY accept paper barcodes, plastic barcodes or official parkrun wristbands.

This means parkrunner barcodes on smart phones or watches are NOT to be accepted for scanning.

It is also NEVER acceptable to harass or be aggressive towards the volunteers for following the rules.

You can read the parkrun policy here

Where do I get my barcode? You can always print more barcodes by logging into your parkrun account, there will be a link in your parkrun email if you don’t know the address.

Paper can get messy and ripped or soggy, so you can laminate them, and there are also a few other supported barcodes that can be used for parkrun. Check out the links below on how to order parkrun tokens or wristbands.

Thanks for everyone’s understanding on following the parkrun rules to make the event enjoyable for runners and volunteers.
