Albury Wodonga parkrun Event #2 15/03/2014

RUN REPORT

Mother Nature was kind once again for our second parkrun event. 74 parkrunners took advantage of the perfect weather with 30 first timers joining the parkrun community.

Thanks once again to the volunteers of the day, Bridget Glass, Curtis Biggs, Scott Montgomery, Val Scotchmer, Steve Parker, Debbie Robinson and Event Director Sarah Pearce. If you would like to volunteer email alburywodongahelpers@parkrun.com or see our volunteers coordinator Curtis at the event. You can put down your preferred date and role with rosters being able to be done in advance. To check the volunteer roles and roster, go to the volunteers section on our page. Remember each time you volunteer you will earn 100 points (up to a maximum of 300 per year).

We still have quite a few “Unknown Athletes” so please, “Don’t forget your barcode”. We had a slight issue with the scanner this week with one runner not getting their results. If there are ever any issues at the scanner, please let our volunteers take your ID number, name and placing, otherwise please email us. We will do our best to ensure 100% accuracy, but please remember this is a free event run entirely by volunteers giving up their time.

If you have facebook, please “like” Albury Wodonga parkrun page and tag yourself and your friends in our photos each week.

We look forward to seeing you all next Saturday!

Albury Wodonga parkrun Event #1 8/03/2014

RUN REPORT

Today marked the launch of Albury Wodonga parkrun – the first border crossing parkrun! We had a total of 88 parkrunners attend the inaugural event, of whom 73 were first timers.

We welcomed parkrun tourists from Canberra, Shepparton, Melbourne and some as far as Foster. We were honoured to host Brendan Peel's 50th parkrun. Brendan made the trip up from his home parkrun Albert Melbourne, and aims to continue his parkrun tour next week to Campbelltown parkrun launch. A big congratulations to Brendan and thank you for joining us.

The launch was made possible by our volunteers of the day, Steve Parker, Stacey Loccisano, Curtis Biggs, Scott Montgomery, Lisa Barry, Leah Wiseman, Bridget Glass, Alyce Holzer and Event Director Sarah Pearce. If you would like to volunteer for future events, please contact us via alburywodongahelpers@parkrun.com

I had a number of enquiries regarding the works to Union Bridge. The walkway currently has temporary fencing along it restricting it to single file. I have contacted council regarding this and they have given me a contact at the RMS. I have requested an update on the progress/timeline of the works and am awaiting a reply. Whilst this is an inconvenience, especially when passing, this is not a long term issue. We ask that all runners take caution when crossing the bridge and of course follow the parkrun commandments - “I shall be considerate of other park users” and “I shall be courteous to other parkrunners”.

Finally, thanks to all who attended our launch, we received lots of positive feedback, especially on our picturesque course. We look forward to seeing you all next week and catching up over a post run coffee at Riverdeck Kiosk.
