Christmas & New Year parkrun Update

The only two days other than Saturday's that parkrun can be held each year are Christmas Day and New Years Day. These events are optional, and whether they are held each year is up to the individual event.

Albury Wodonga parkrun will NOT be holding a 2019 Christmas Day parkrun.

We WILL, however, be holding a special NEW YEARS DAY parkrun, at the special time of 9am to allow everyone a sleep in, or better still do a double with Willow parkrun kicking off at 7:30am.

What better way to start a new year than two parkruns in a row!

All other usual events will take place at 8am as per normal throughout the festive season.

Albury Wodonga parkrun Event #109

Albury Wodonga parkrun
Event number 109
16th April 2016

Well done to the 253 parkrunners in event number 109. The cooler weather is making for perfect conditions for a morning run.

Our roster has been looking really good lately with positions filling well in advance. The roster is available at the scanning desk for you to put yourself on your preferred date/role. Please remember to put your barcode ID rather than you name as this eliminates error.

We are also looking at introducing another volunteer role of lead bike. This will involve the volunteer riding out on course ahead of the runners to warn park users and people on the path. After recent feedback from the public we see the benefit in this and will help reduce the risk of incidents on course. We will still need to fill our core roles as a priority, such as scanners, timekeeping and tail runners.

See you all next week!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY!

Congratulations to our Annual Points Winners:

We also recognised the following parkrunners for their contribution and achievement:

Junior parkrunner of the Year: Sam Chase

A huge thank you to the following:
RBR Party Hire for the decorations and of course the very popular photo booth! I hope you have all checked out your photo strip on facebook.
CakesRlicious for another amazing cake! If you missed it we had finish token number 2 to celebrate our second year!
Personal Best Physiotherapy for donating vouchers for our award winners and joining us for the day.
Expresso Mobile Coffee Van for keeping us caffeinated.

Of course, thank you to all who got in the party spirit and dressed up in their bright, tight and tutus! I am sure we must have looked a treat to an unsuspecting bystander!

On a personal note, thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last two years. To every single volunteer, parkrun could not happen without you. We are very fortunate to have a free event, open to everyone and I am sure parkrun has had an impact on your life in some way. We would love to hear your story, so feel free to send an email or a facebook message to share your parkrun experience. Here is mine……

"Two years, 104 events, 3,307 registered runners, thousands of PB's, countless friends, endless networks and unmeasurable rewards! (and no Saturday sleep-ins). Two of the best years ever!! And many more to come! Thank you for the continued love and support Albury Wodonga and the parkrun community!"

****NEW COURSE RECORD****

Another week, another course record! 323 parkrunners took part in event #99…..can we set another for event #100! We had 46 first timers and a very impressive 72 new PB’s!

Some big congratulations to Tim Dishon on completing his 50th parkrun! For those of you who have qualified for milestone t-shirts, come and see us for instructions on how to claim.

This month’s parkrunner of the month went to a well deserving Laura Chase. Laura is a familiar face on the scanning desk and has volunteered more times than she has ran. Laura did however manage to set two new PBs in January and still volunteer. Well done Laura.

A big thank you to all the volunteers! Our roster is looking great, but we still have some vacancies in the coming weeks. Please check the roster online or at the scanning desk.

Albury Wodonga parkrun Event #98

Albury Wodonga parkrun
Event number 98
30th January 2016

****NEW COURSE RECORD****

A new course record was set with 320 parkrunners taking place in event #98. We only set the last record earlier this month so it is fantastic to see our numbers continue to grow.

A great crowd with lots of first timers and some visitors also. We even had some international parkrunners from England who are travelling Australia and incorporating some parkrun tourism. They are hoping to get five parkruns in during their stay!

We are also fast approaching our 100th event and our second birthday will be here before too long.
As always a big thank you to the volunteers who do a great job each week, particularly with the increase in runners. We have had some extra help over this busy period with sorting tokens and assisting at the finish line. So please check the roster online or at the scanning desk for any vacant spots.
