Congratulations to the 286 finishers at a glorious sunny Wynnum parkrun. Our pacers today did an excellent job helping 50 people get to new PBs. Our first two placed male finishers (Werner and Sam) and first female Keri were also very close to their PBs too. If you were helped by a pacer today please add a post below to thank them! All the results are out and you should have your results emails by now - as always if you do not see your time or you think it is wrong then please get in touch and we will follow it up. The full list of this week's awesome volunteers today were... Matt ARCHER, Tony BAISDEN, Kenneth BANFIELD, Geraldine (Ged) BANFIELD, Eleanore BEILBY, Julie BLACK, Roisin BURRELL, Alan BURRELL, Noah CARTER, James HOLLANBY, Verne LOWSON, Brad LYE, Kurt MCDONALD, Victoria MCDONALD, Mark MUSK, Anne NUTTALL, Cullen PORTHILL, Lara RADIK, Trish RUSSELL, Tom SKORZEWSKI, Laura SKORZEWSKI, Sandra SORENSEN, Leeann STEWART, Jeremy WALKER
Thanks to all those who added their names to our roster today. Don't forget you can email in or PM us on facebook if you want to help us out. We rely on regular parkrunners volunteering at least 3 times a year so if you have not done that yet please consider volunteering next week or beyond. All the jobs are easy but all are important to help us bring you a free weekly 5km timed run each week
We were pleased to welcome to Wynnum parkrun tourists from all over the world, furthest afield today were from Ireland and England, and closer to home were a group from Augustine Heights and other local courses in and around Australia. Your all very welcome and hope you enjoyed one of the best Bayside parkruns in Australia - it's also one of the flattest courses too
It was great to have a visit from Vanessa of QLD Orthotics and Podiatry. If you did not get a chance to talk to her about any running injuries or problems then parkrunners can always book to see her for a free 15 min consult at her clinic in Manly. She also offers parkrunners discounts on various services so get in touch with her for full details.
We were also joined as usual by Ricky, with his Flinders coffee van. Ricky makes great coffee and other warm and cold drinks so dont forget to bring along some spare change each week!
Today we had some special milestone runs. Katherine and Kelly both finished 50 runs and Run Director Al Lowson finished 100 runs (and also 34 volunteer stints) - well done to you all.
Our moon-booted photographer Verne did a great job on the photos. Due to another commitment the photos will be uploaded later on today, but they will be worth waiting for
I was asked today for some details about the 'Longest Runs' on Sunday 7th August. I know lots of people are signed up for BNE Marathon on that day (and there is still a chance to enter with a 10% discount if you see my previous posts) but if you are not quite up to that you can run anything from 1 to 7 of the local 5km courses starting at either Augustine Heights or Yarrabilba and finishing at Cleveland. They are NOT official parkruns, they are NOT timed, and they will not count to your parkrun points or stats but they are a great chance to run with and chat to other local parkrunners over some great free local courses. For details see map here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Pm_nQK8CUtQf13hbL9-cTvHN56Q&usp=sharing or look at the facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/601464580015457/?active_tab=posts
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you all same place, same time next week.
Best wishes, Alan & Roisin - Event Directors
