Bringing communities together

Stockland recognises that it has a significant role in the development of sustainable communities of the future. For us, sustainability is about ensuring we leave the communities where we operate, and the environment that they enjoy, in great shape for future generations.

Through Stockland’s Community Development initiatives, we aim to provide physical infrastructure and health, leisure and recreation programs that facilitate a healthy lifestyle for our residents and customers through all life stages, where possible utilizing the natural environment.

Stockland General Manager of Sustainable Communities, Ben Allen, said parkrun is a terrific program that will build strong community connections while encouraging people to volunteer and keep active in their community.

"Our partnership with parkrun presents us with a significant opportunity to unite thousands of people across Australia in a free, healthy and regular program. As the only Australian property developer to offer the program, we are looking forward to starting inclusive community events that will benefit our residents, local businesses, and the wider community into the future. We have already seen some fantastic results from our two established parkruns in North Lakes and Highland Reserve in Queensland, with attendance records already being broken" Mr Allen said.

Stockland’s involvement will enable local community volunteers to organise the five kilometre timed parkrun in their own Stockland community. The runs are held at the same time every Saturday morning in their local Stockland community park.
