Shepparton parkrun Weekly News – Event 189


It was another fantastic week at parkrun. Great to see the weather slowly getting warmer and the number of runners increase every week!

This week 151 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 7 were first timers and 21 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 6 different clubs took part.

This weeks event was made possible by 12 fantastic volunteers. This week we had  Helen REYNOLDS, Allan CONNOLLY, Kerry CONNOLLY, Tara LENNIE, Julie MULCAHY, Corinne SZCZUREK, Claudia SZCZUREK, Hamish REID, Richard SPEEDY, Penelope STEUART, Kim READ and Janelle COLLINS. Jack POPPLESTONE (JM15-17) (Unattached) was first over the line in 17:46 - 8th time in 35 appearances.
Glenn MCMILLAN (SM25-29) of Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can't Run Good, was second over the line in 17:51.
Jarrod MINOGUE (SM25-29) of Shepparton Runners Club, was third over the line in 18:20 - has been first to finish on 5 previous occasions.

Female placings:
Paula WILLMOTT (VW35-39) (Unattached) was first (20th overall) over the line in 21:54 - 11th time in 25 appearances.
Susan OLLEY (VW60-64) of Shepparton Runners Club, was second (32nd overall) over the line in 23:19 - has been first to finish on 50 previous occasions.
Elouise PETTIE (JW11-14) (Unattached) was third (37th overall) over the line in 24:04 - was first to finish once before.

The three highest age grades were recorded by:
Susan OLLEY (VW60-64) – 84.42% for the time 23:19 (32nd overall).
Trevor DAINTON (VM55-59) – 81.40% for the time 19:32 (8th overall).
Jack POPPLESTONE (JM15-17) – 77.11% for the time 17:46 (first overall).

The male record is held by Brady THRELFALL who recorded a time of 14:54 on 27th June 2015 (event number 75).
The female record is held by Tarli BIRD who recorded a time of 16:42 on 3rd December 2016 (event number 148).
The Age Grade course record is held by Annette O'SHEA who recorded 93.71% (19:04) on 29th March 2014 (event number 12).

Shepparton parkrun started on 11th January 2014. Since then 2,438 participants have completed 20,602 parkruns covering a total distance of 103,010 km, including 4,044 new Personal Bests.

This week we had tourists from Karkarook parkrun, Highlands parkrun, Ballarat parkrun and Merimbula parkrun NSW. We also had some Shepp parkrunners go touring. They were Lee-Anne Kirschner who traveled to Maribyrnong parkrun, Rosalie Smith and Peter Kesson who went to Lalor parkrun, Dylan Scoble who went to Echuca Moama parkrun and Mathieu and Justine Ryan who were at Phillip Island parkrun.

 

Shepparton parkrun Weekly News – Event 188

It was another great week at perkrun that saw 133 people run, jog and walk the course, of whom 7 were first timers and 17 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 5 different clubs took part.

This week we had 11 wonderful volunteers make parkrun possible. We would like to thank Mathieu RYAN, Justine RYAN, Steven HICKS, Neil WRIGHT, Julie MULCAHY, Hamish REID, Sally YOUNG, Louise DWYER, Johanna MADDEN, Andrea SCHOLZ and Tarvinder SINGH. Thanks for a great job!

Jarrod MINOGUE (SM25-29) of Shepparton Runners Club, was first over the line in 18:36 - 5th time in 120 appearances.
Jacob TANGEY (VM40-44) of Dumfries RC, was second over the line in 19:01 - was first to finish once before.
Scott MCAULIFFE (VM45-49) of Shepparton Runners Club, was third over the line in 19:13.

Female placings:
Katie BARNES (JW10) of Little Athletics, was first (23rd overall) over the line in 23:30 - first time in 3 appearances.
Susan OLLEY (VW60-64) of Shepparton Runners Club, was second (26th overall) over the line in 23:38 - has been first to finish on 50 previous occasions.
Nadine EDWARDS (VW45-49) of Shepparton Runners Club, was third (33rd overall) over the line in 24:17.

Susan OLLEY (VW60-64) – 83.29% for the time 23:38 (26th overall).
Trevor DAINTON (VM55-59) – 80.30% for the time 19:48 (6th overall).
David FRIZZELL (VM55-59) – 78.95% for the time 19:38 (4th overall).

Welcome to the 100 club

This week we would like to congratulate the newest member to the 100 club, Colin McCormick. Colin has run all 100 parkruns at Shepparton, and since starting has had 10 PB's, reduced his time by 6.34 and volunteered 10 times. Well done and we look forward to you joining the 250 club!

Shepparton parkrun Weekly news – Event 187

Well it was a week of celebrations and comraderie his week which saw another Shepp parkrunner join the 50 club and runners banding together to help friends achieve new PB's. A fantastic representation of parkrun is all about and what makes being part of the parkrun community so special.

 This week 175 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 12 were first timers and an amazing 22 people recorded new Personal Bests! Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.

Yet again we couldn't do this event without our amazing volunteers. This week we had, Justine RYAN, Rosalie SMITH, Julie MULCAHY, Andrew OLLEY, Hamish REID, Johanna MADDEN, Chris BANNING, Jason HUNTER, Glenys FRIZZELL, Demi WOOD and Tracey HAMILTON give up their time to put on a great parkrun for us all. Don't forget to put your name down on the volunteers list.

This week we welcome Sue Cosgriff to the 50 club. Since starting parkrun, Sue has improved her time by 7:18, has had 7 PBs and volunteered 5 times. Well done!

Shepparton parkrun Weekly News – Event 186

 

Well it was our favourite day of the parkrun month on Saturday that saw our fantastic pacers come out and lend support to fellow runners to chase down that fabulous PB. It was great to see so many people volunteering and participating in the lead up to the Shepparton running festival that was held the following day.


This week 115 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 8 were first timers and 18 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.



The weeks event was made possible by 18 awesome volunteers. Welcome to the 50 Club

This week we have a personal milestone of 50 parkruns to celebrate. We would like to congratulate Natalie Hicks who has run all 50 of her parkruns here at Shepparton. Of Natalie’s 49 parkruns, 3 have been PB’s and since her 1st parkrun, Natalie has reduced her time by 1:22 and volunteered 3 times. Congratulations Natalie and we look forward to you joining the 100 club.

Of Peter’s 49 parkruns, 6 have been PB’s and since his 1st parkrun, Peter has reduced his time by 1:24 and volunteered 12 times. Congratulations Peter and we look forward to you joining the 100 club!

This week saw Shepparton parkrun pass 100,000km worth of runs since first starting! Congratulations to Glenda Cotterill for being the lucky 100,000km parkrunner. Her prize is a free parkrun next week. Well done Glenda.

This week 93 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 6 were first timers and 13 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 6 different clubs took part.

Welcome to the 100 club

This week we have a personal milestone of 100 parkruns to celebrate. We would like to congratulate Lionel Waterson who has run 98 parkruns at Shepparton, 1 at Albert parkrun Melbourne and 1 at Cobram parkrun. Lionel has had 17 PB’s and has reduced his time by 6:53 since starting parkrun and has also volunteered 12 times. Some big achievements also for Lionel on the day were - 1. Lionel ran the entire 5km parkrun for the first time. 2. Ran a PB on his milestone event gaining him entry in to the "Flashman Club". Congratulations Lionel and we look forward to see you joining the 250 club!


A big thank you to Adrian Jones for being Run Director for the last 2 weeks and we hope to see him in charge again soon. This week sees the return of Steve Trevaskis to the Run Director role.
