Shepparton parkrun Weekly News – Event 196

This week 147 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 10 were first timers and 14 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 13 wonderful volunteers. This week we had Kerry CONNOLLY, Marjorie DAVIES, Mathieu RYAN, Lily RABL, Julie MULCAHY, Andrew OLLEY, David FRIZZELL, Sally YOUNG, Arnold BEETON, Antoine Lossam YAMFU, Steven MONK, Chris OBERIN and Demi WOOD.

The male record is held by Brady THRELFALL who recorded a time of 14:54 on 27th June 2015 (event number 75).
The female record is held by Tarli BIRD who recorded a time of 16:42 on 3rd December 2016 (event number 148).
The Age Grade course record is held by Annette O'SHEA who recorded 93.71% (19:04) on 29th March 2014 (event number 12).

Shepparton parkrun started on 11th January 2014. Since then 2,515 participants have completed 21,626 parkruns covering a total distance of 108,130 km, including 4,171 new Personal Bests.

This week we had tourists from Merimbula parkrun, Devonport parkrun, Lake Mac parkrun and Albury Wodonga parkrun come along to join us. Don't forget that this weekend Shepparton parkrun will not be on due to the triathalon. This is a great opportunity to visit some other parkruns. Welcome to the 50 Club

This week we have a personal milestone of 50 parkruns to celebrate.
We would like to congratulate Glenys Frizzell who has run 41 of her parkruns here at Shepparton and 8 different parkruns in 6 states. Of Glenys’s 49 parkruns, 10 have been PB’s and since her 1st parkrun, Glenys has reduced her time by 3:20Congratulations Glenys and we look forward to you joining the 100 club!

Congratulations to Trevor Dainton for being No.1 in Victoria and 5th in Australia for doing the most parkruns at one parkrun. In parkrun terms, he is a “passionista”

Shepparton parkrun Weekly News – Event 195

It was our favourite week at park run again this week. Pacer week! Thanks to our amazing pacers who helped 16 people achieve a new PB.

This week 119 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 14 were first timers and 16 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.

This weeks event was made possible by 16 volunteers. This week we had park run tourists from Bendigo parkrun, Westerfolds parkrun, Gungahlin parkrun, Albert parkrun and Maribynong parkrun come and join us. We hope you had a good time.

Some Shepparton parkrunnners that did some tourism this weekend were Larry and Rosalie Smith who attended Balyang Sanctuary parkrun,  Rob Ryan who attended Echuca Moama parkrun and Lee-ann Kirschner who attended Newport Lakes parkrun.

Welcome to the 50 Club

We would like to congratulate Stacey Willaton who has run 45 of her parkruns here at Shepparton, 2 at Cairns parkrun and 1 each at Paradise point parkrun, Riverway parkrun and Canning River parkrun. Of Stacey’s 49 parkruns, 6 have been PB’s and since her 1st parkrun, Stacey has reduced her time by 4:18 and volunteered 1 time. Well done!


Welcome to the 25 volunteer club

This week we have a personal milestone of volunteering 25 times to celebrate.
We would like to congratulate Justine Ryan who has volunteered in the role of time keeper 9 times, barcode scanning  7 times, finish tokens 4 times, marshal twice , photographer once, token sorting  and tail walker once. We thank Justine so much for volunteering. Congratulations!

Just a reminder that there will be NO PARKRUN on Saturday 11th November due to the Challenge Triathlon.  There will be a 5km fun run held on the Saturday morning.   For those interested in visiting another Parkrun, we are organising a mini bus to travel to Mt Beauty Parkrun.  The bus will be leaving Shepparton at 5am and Chris Harvey has very kindly offered to drive for us.  If we can get 24 people the cost will be $20 per person, ($35 pp for an 11 seater, $30 pp for 13 seater).  Please fill your name in on the sheet at Parkrun on Saturday or let Rosalie Smith or Allan Connelly know by email ringrosebss@gmail.com.

Just a reminder to everyone that there will be NO PARKRUN on Saturday 11th November due to the Challenge Triathlon.  There will be a 5km fun run held on the Saturday morning.   For those interested in visiting another parkrun, we are organising a mini bus to travel to Mt Beauty parkrun.  The bus will be leaving Shepparton at 5am and Chris Harvey has very kindly offered to drive for us.  If we can get 24 people the cost will be $20 per person, ($35 pp for an 11 seater, $30 pp for 13 seater).  Please fill your name in on the sheet at parkrun on Saturday or let Rosalie Smith or Allan Connelly know by email ringrosebss@gmail.com or at parkrun on Saturday.

Jarrod MINOGUE (SM25-29) of Shepparton Runners Club, was second over the line in 18:00 - has been first to finish on 5 previous occasions.
Glenn MCMILLAN (SM25-29) of Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can't Run Good, was third over the line in 18:05.

Michaela JACKSON (SW30-34) of GENERATION RUN, was first (15th overall) over the line in 22:18 - first appearance.
Anna TURNBULL (VW35-39) (Unattached) was second (20th overall) over the line in 22:49 - has been first to finish on 8 previous occasions.
Susan OLLEY (VW60-64) of Shepparton Runners Club, was third (21st overall) over the line in 22:50 - has been first to finish on 52 previous occasions.

Susan OLLEY (VW60-64) – 86.20% for the time 22:50 (21st overall).
David FRIZZELL (VM55-59) – 79.22% for the time 19:34 (5th overall).
Beau CAIA (SM20-24) – 75.15% for the time 17:14 (first overall).

Well it was a week of celebrations this week. We welcomed 5 lucky people to their respective parkrun clubs and got to enjoy the lovely weather. Who could ask for more!

This week 157 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 10 were first timers and 19 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers. This week we had Allan CONNOLLY, Justine RYAN, Julie MULCAHY, Andrew OLLEY, Hamish REID, Adrian JONES, Sally YOUNG, Johanna MADDEN, Melanie MCAULIFFE, Maree RALPH and Mark YOUNG give up their time to make sure this weeks parkrun was the fantastic event it was. Please consider putting your name down on our future roster list. All jobs are easy, training is provided by happy, friendly people and many hands make light work!

This week we have a personal milestone of 100 parkruns to celebrate.
We would like to congratulate Murray King who has run 94 parkruns at Shepparton , 3 at Castlemaine parkrun , 2 at Sandgate parkrun Qld and 1 at Wangaratta parkrun. Murray has had 22 PB’s since staring parkrun, has reduced his time by 11:40 and volunteered 36 times.
