There was a small but enthusiastic crowd at New Farm this morning - 277 parkrunners braved the chilly breeze. Welcome to our several visitors from NZ, Canberra and Melbourne, we're sure you felt right at home in the cooler weather!
Big, big congratulations to Winn Pham and Hung Pham on both reaching your milestone runs of 250 today. The whole Pham family has now reached this impressive milestone (and beyond!) while still fitting in regular volunteer stints. Also congratulations to Katherine Farry on doing her 50th parkrun today, with 47 of those at our beloved New Farm course.
Our photos can be viewed in our facebook album.
Thank you to today’s volunteers: Jayden Barrett-Baker, Deirdre Brown, John Carran, David Coote, Joanna Fack, Jason Lloyd, Sophie Lloyd, Brett Peel, Michelle Peel, Philip Pine, Hudson Ridoutt, Ian Ridoutt, Paul Welsh, Marlon Whitely, Angela Ives and Amanda Wastell.
Our aim is to have the roster for each week filled before we leave the park on the previous Saturday. Thanks to everyone who’s volunteered so far for next week.
Get organised and put your name down well ahead of time to guarantee your favourite role.
Well done to the juniors who scored PBs today: Thomas H and Zac C.
Parents, please remember our Under 11 rulewhich states all children aged 10 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times while running.
Also a reminder that scooters and bicycles are not permitted at parkrun, due to the safety risks to both children and parkrunners.
Visually impaired athletes and guides
To connect with the VI team join the Achilles Brisbane - athletes & guides connect facebook group. Each Wednesday, the call goes out to match VI athletes with guides for the following Saturday.
We’d love to see more visually impaired people and guide dogs join us.
Please take some time to watch this video, as we’d like everyone to know where our defibrillator is kept and the basics of its use.
The defib is stored in the blue plastic gear box between parkruns, and moved to the finish line for easy access once the run has started each week. It will stay there until the tail walker crosses the line.
You can still donate to help the other Australian parkrun events get their own defibrillators. Donations are tax deductible.
