New Year’s Day parkrun

To start 2019 off in the best way possible, we'll be running an extra parkrun on Tuesday 1st January at 8am.

To participate, all you need to do is turn up at 7.45am for the briefing, along with your barcode (as per usual).

And if that's not enough for you, once you've completed the run at Nepean River, you can safely travel over to Penrith Lakes to complete a parkrun there at 9.30am - thereby achieving the prestigious "New Year's Day Double". NYD is only day of the year where completing two parkruns on one day is allowed, and both officially count towards your tally.

Please note: if you have completed the New Year's Day Double at Penrith in the past two years, the 2019 event order is DIFFERENT, with Nepean River going first at 8am.

If you'd like to volunteer at our NYD event, please contact us via email at nepeanriverhelpers@parkrun.com or send us a message via Facebook.

Holiday parkrun schedule

Dear parkrunners,

This year Nepean River parkrun will be holding a special parkrun on New Year's Day! Our NYD parkrun will start at 8am (newcomers briefing at 7:45, briefing at 7:50, GO at 8:00). New Year's Day is the only day of the year that you are allowed to do the double - two parkruns in one day. If you would like to do the double, Penrith Lakes parkrun is on at 9:30am. If you don't want to do the double, but would like to be at both parkruns, please consider participating in one, and volunteering at the other.

Please note, we are NOT having a special event parkrun on Christmas Day, but Penrith Lakes is. Why not start Christmas morning with a 5k at Penrith Lakes at 9am?

Thanks,
Sheri
Nepean River parkrun Event Director

Christmas Day & New Years Day Events….

There are only two days of the year when parkrun Australia allows extra parkrun events take place - these are Christmas Day New Years Day.  This approval gives individual events the option of choosing to run an extra event if they wish. This year, both Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on a Monday.

Nepean River parkrun has chosen NOT to have an additional event on Christmas Day.

Nepean River parkrun is UNDECIDED at the moment on whether an additional event will be held on New Years Day.  We will advise as soon as a decision has been made.

If you're keen for a run on Christmas Day, we would encourage you to consider being a parkrun tourist and visiting another parkrun.  Details on other parkruns holding additional events on Christmas Day and New Years Day can be found at the parkrun Australia Christmas Compendium...
