Lakeview #189 9th September 2017

A cold and blustery southerly tested our 13 volunteers and the 107 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 9 were first timers and 12 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.

Zahleigh completed his tenth parkrun and Glenn his one-hundredth. They were almost literally blown away receiving their milestone certificates.

Matt has run 47 times at Lakeview (and volunteered 8 times). He needed a PB to be first over the line for the first time.

Part of the fun of parkrun is challenging yourself and this week Michelle ran her fourth consecutive PB.

The finish line is in sight and the smile says it all.

Lakeview #188 2nd September 2017

A sparkling spring morning greeted the 120 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers and 26 recorded new Personal Bests.

Congratulations to Noah who achieved his 50 Milestone. He is still a under ten years old and obviously enjoys his running.

Jett rocketed home for his Junior 10 Milestone.

Adam has run 49 times at Lakeview and he has at last achieved the goal of being the first over the line. Over those 49 parkruns, all at Lakeview, Adam has brought his time down from 27 minutes to his PB today of 20:34.

Tegan was the first female over the line in 21:52. Not bad for a Junior 10.

Lakeview #187 26th August 2017

A special thanks this week to our wonderful behind the scenes Lakeview Team who work through the week to ensure our stopwatch is cleared, the scanners are charged, they store our gear, wash the vests, keep our defibrillator safe, ensure the roster is filled, update our twitter and Facebook pages and welcome you all on a Saturday morning. Our Lakeview wouldn't be as wonderful as it is without you!

Speaking of wonderful I hear that our last Winter parkrun for 2017 included 14 PB's, 12 First Timers, a couple of Milestones, and 79 happy parkrunners and parkwalkers. We also saw representatives of 11 different clubs taking part.

Lakeview parkrun #186 19th August 2017

Our volunteers rugged up for one of our last parkruns for this Winter Season whilst our runners came in droves to take on the wonderful Green Point Course.

This week 124 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 12 were first timers and 24 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part. A couple of these groups are pictured below, the ever Hooting Wooters and the Large in numbers five30runners. These groups are very welcoming and have motivated many people to get moving in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter areas. Look them up on Facebook and get involved in some wonderfully welcoming running groups in your local area.

Lakeview #185 12th August 2017

Our junior runners continue to challenge themselves at Lakeview. This week six of the first ten runners across the line were under 14yrs of age. Perhaps in the future one of them will equal (or surpass) Celia Sullohern who ran a time of 19:20 at Lakeview back in 2014 and on Sunday was the first women over the line in the City to Surf with a time of 47:03.

This week 22 of the 114 people who ran, jogged and walked the course were Juniors. 15 were first timers and 22 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 12 different clubs took part.

Last week Terry celebrated his 70th birthday, this week he ran his 100th parkrun. He is a stalwart of Lakeview having volunteered more than 50 times. Terry also likes to travel and combine that with his love of running. He has parkrun in England, Scotland, Ireland and most of the states of Australia.

Lakeview is a family affair, Wil and Aliesha celebrated their 50 milestones together.

Leanne travelled all the way from Blackbutt for her 50 milestone celebrations.

Jayden barely touched the ground to achieve an Age Grade of 80.18%
