Lakeview #198 11th November 2017

Welcome to our newest Run Director, Amanda who organised the rosters and gear, sent out reminder emails, Facebook posts, processed the results and much much more.

She also briefed the 138 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 20 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part.

The rain held off and 131 people stayed dry as they ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers and 18 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 17 different clubs took part.

Bruno was congratulated on completing his 50th parkrun.

Three at a time up the Lakeview hills, wow! It must feel good when you get to see the lake on that last downhill.

Sometimes parkrun participants would like to not have their pictures on our Facebook and other social media sites. parkrun has decided to implement a sign across all parkruns to indicate that you do not want your image published. Just cross your arms in front of your chest or face, as demonstrated by co-ed Bernard

and anonymous model

and we will endeavour to either not take the photo or we will delete it from the postings.

In October these three runners recorded the greatest improvement in their times (minimum of three outings at Lakeview in the month and no tail walking). Trish HOLLAND 00:02:17, Dave IZZARD 00:02:06, Graham CUNNINGHAM 00:01:54.

Lakeview #195 21st October 2017

Lakeview had a welcome invasion of  Wooters who swelled our numbers to the 140 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, and the 20 (mainly Wooters) who volunteered. Of the runners and walkers 18 were first timers and 22 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 15 different clubs took part.

It was also a morning of milestones, Gil clocked up his 100th parkrun.

As did Sandra who made it a double celebration by also clocking a PB.

The Wooters swelled the ranks of our volunteers which gave our regular Lakeview volunteers a welcome chance to run. As well as filling static roles such as timekeeper, marshall and tail walkers they also provide three pacers which may help explain the 22 PB's even though there was a headwind on the way home.

Lakeview parkrun will have a Christmas Day 2017 & a NYD parkrun 2018

How excited are the Lakeview locals to have Lakeview added to the Christmas and Newyear Compendium this year. Both special event parkruns will give you the opportunity to scan your barcodes and move one more parkrun closer to that next milestone. We will run both parkruns at 8:00am so set your alarms and we will see you all at Green Point Reserve on Monday 25th December 2017 and again on Monday 1st January 2018. We will also need just a few volunteers so let us know if you would like to give back to your parkrunning community on either of these days!

What a way to celebrate two special days on our calendar!

Bring your friends and your barcodes!

Your's in parkrunning
