Creating a stronger, more vibrant and active community

The Hamilton parkrun team is thrilled to unveil new track markers and signage at Lake Hamilton. These valuable new assets have been funded through a grant from the Stronger Communities Programme with the support of Dan Tehan, Member for Wannon.

The grant of $6750 was awarded to the team to support the launch and ongoing sustainability of Hamilton parkrun, a free, weekly, timed, 5km walk, jog or run that is open to everyone and takes place every Saturday morning at 8am at Lake Hamilton.

The grant has funded the purchase of equipment, including a laptop, camera, and a defibrillator, that help ensure the smooth operation and safety of the event and participants.

The grant also provided much needed funds to purchase and install 2 community information signs, and 6 stone kilometer markers, with the aim being to encourage community members to get out and make use of the lake walking track more often by completing the 5km parkrun course, any day of the week.

The signs include a map of the lake and parkrun course, as well as a description of the event to encourage everyone to give it a go. The new permanent stone markers indicate the start/finish point, turnaround point and each kilometer of the course, making it easier for any local or tourist to complete the parkrun course any day of the week, simply by following these markers.

Thanks to the support of Dan Tehan and the valuable in-kind contribution of Southern Grampians Shire Council, the installation of the signage and stone markers as part of this generous Stronger Communities Grant will help build a stronger, more vibrant and active community.
