Event #300 – 2 February 2019

300.02Feb19A

From the Run Director

The rain held off for another wonderful parkrun at Cleveland this morning. 291 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 35 were first timers and 34 recorded new Personal Bests.

Today's event was only made possible by our wonderful volunteers; Tim, Amanda, Kerri, Andrea, Deanna, Michael, Peta, Margaret, Hannah, Declan, Laila and Stacey. Next week is looking good except for a photographer so please consider helping make Cleveland parkrun the fantastic event it is.

Unfortunately token number 256 seems to have gone missing. These tokens remain the property of parkrun and is part of the equipment that we need to continue bringing this event to you. So please check all your pockets, bags etc and help reunite us with the missing token.

Event #297 – 12 January 2019

297.12Jan2019A

From the Run Director

Amazing stats on this hot, humid Saturday:

~ 289 hot, sweaty runners and walkers crossed the finish line
~ 25 of you scored new PBs (not sure how you do it!)
~ 43 people came to Cleveland parkrun for the first time, including tourists from Japan - St Peters (Sydney) - Gold Coast - Kawana - Kedron - Wynnum - Underwood - New Farm & Capalaba
~ 11 people volunteered so parkrun could happen

Thank you to everyone who came along to make it such a fun morning, and an extra special thanks to our volunteers:

Cathy - Danni - Trudie - Peta - Monty - Jodi - Glenn - Zrinka - Graeme - Olivia

We celebrated quite a number of milestones this morning (see our photos below). Huge congratulations to:

250 runs - Deb Burdfield
100 runs - Carmel Grashuis
50 runs - Jye Coop (age 10)
50 runs - Daphne Day (age 87)
50 runs - Brett Allbon
25 vols - Danni Burdfield
25 vols - Glenn de Silva

As you can see, parkrun is for everyone, young and old, runner or walker, and we love and value every member of our community. So, if you've been thinking about it but never been, come along and give it a go.

Someone asked today about the parkrun barcode shoe tags and wrist bands. These can be ordered directly from Bent Logic. I will put the link to their website in the Comments.

I am handing the RD reins over to Jayne. Thanks to everyone who has made the last two weeks such good fun and, more importantly, incident-free!
