Bonus parkruns over the Festive Period

Evening parkrunners - Claisebrook Cove will be hosting two bonus parkruns over the festive period.

The first will be at the usual time (08:00) on Christmas Day, this will be a fancy dress run with a theme of Christmas, if you have a Santa, elf, reindeer or similar outfit please feel free to wear it - there is even a rumour that the three wise men and JC himself may be putting in another appearance.

Bring along something to throw on the barbie at the end and join us for a post run breakfast and beverage of choice.

The second run will be starting at 09:00 on New Years Day - New Years Day is the only day of the year that you have the oppourtunity to attend and score points at two parkruns.

We have teamed up with our friends from Carine Glades parkrun to provide the oppourtunity for you to do a 'double header' if you would like to.

Carine Glades parkrun will be starting at 07:30 which will give you time to run at Carine Glades and travel to Claisebrook Cove in time for our 09:00 start.

You can of course attend either event independently if you prefer.

Hope to see plenty of you looking suitably subdued on the day, what better way to start 2016 than by running a parkrun or two in the company of a herd of parkrunners.

Claisebrook Cove parkrun is 3 on Saturday

If you didn’t already know, Claisebrook Cove parkrun will be three years old on Saturday 01 August 2015.

As such we are holding a themed run around the theme of (what else?) ‘Three'. We will leave the interpretation of what that means up to all of you - there will be:

Annual Points table medal presentations
Cake - Please bring along some celebratory cake(s) if you are a talented baker.
BBQ - BYO bacon, sausages or vege equivalent,
Fancy Dress - Theme is 'Three ….'

Have put in an order for a bright, sunny day so nothing could possibly go wrong! Hope to see you there to celebrate with us :)

Evening parkrunners,

Thank you to this weeks team of volunteers who made my job easy on Saturday and of course to the 206 of you who turned up to run, well done to the 38 of you who ran PB's.

The barcode book will be making its final appearance at the finish next week so please remember to either print out and bring your paper athlete ID or visit http://www.bentlogic.com.au and buy a plastic ID tag or wristband, they only cost a couple of bucks and $2 from each tag or $5 from each wristband goes directly to parkrun.

Stats are below for those of you who like that sort of thing - see you all at the same time and place next week and ‪#‎DFYB‬ - Dutch

The volunteer roster is pretty sparsely populated for the next couple of weeks – a link to the roster is below, have a look and if there is a gap you can fill, please let us know. ANZAC day Event Cancellation

Evening parkrunners,

For those of you who are not already aware, it was announced in this weeks newsletter that parkrun Australia will not be running any events on ANZAC Day - 25 April 2015.

The Announcement and a link to the newsletter are below - Cheers, Dutch.

Anzac Day 100

After much consideration we've decided that this year we're not going to parkrun on Anzac Day, April 25. We appreciate that some of you may be disappointed with this decision however it has been made with the best intention to:

1. Avoid any potential logistical clashes with Dawn Services; and
2. Pay our respects to what is sure to be a much larger than usual national commemorative occasion.

Normal service will of course resume the following Saturday, May 2.

Latest 100 Club Members.

Evening parkrunners.
There are a couple of Claisebrook Cove regulars who will be hitting the significant milestone of 100 parkruns tomorrow.
One is a very fast lady – Suzanne McMahon who started parkrunning in the UK, mainly at Pollock parkrun in Glasgow but since moving to WA has become a Claisebrook Cove regular.
The second is Jennifer Storey aged 10 who is (probably) the youngest parkrunner to finish 100 parkruns, having completed all 100 in Australia (or Singapore).
Look out for Suzanne and Jennifer tomorrow, high 5 them if you see them and wait at the end to make sure they get a huge cheer at the finish line.

Christmas Day & New Years Day parkruns

Claisebrook Cove will not be holding special parkruns on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day this year.

Why not consider becoming a tourist at another parkrun to get some exercise credit in before the Christmas festivities or to blow the cobwebs away after the New Year's party?

A Christmas day parkrun is being held at Heirisson Island and New Years day parkruns are happening at Pioneer and Rockingham - more local events may follow.

The full list of extra seasonal events is available at the Christmas Compendium on the parkrun website. This page will updated as more parkruns make plans, so check back nearer to Christmas/New Year.

Event #72 – 21st December – “Fancy Dress parkrun” / BBQ / Cake”

This will be our second annual Christmas fancy dress parkrun.

Set the date: Saturday 21st December 2013
Time: 8am

Turn up for the usual fun parkrun with a twist.  It's fancy dress time and the theme is (what else) Christmas.  We'd love to see as many Santas, elves, reindeer, christmas puddings, crackers, wisemen, shepherds, camels or even just simply a Christmas themed t-shirt, a santa hat, reindeer antlers and your usual running kit.

... as ever parkrun invites you all to run along the beautiful Swan River at 8.00am on Saturday ... but this time weighed down by your chosen outfit!

After the run, we'll light up the BBQs.  Bring along some food and drink to share and celebrate the festive season with your fellow parkrunners.  And no doubt some of our keen bakers may bring along a cake or mince pie to share.

Christmas and New Year parkruns

Festive Running

There will be extra opportunities for parkunning in Perth over the festive season:

These are all official parkruns and will count towards your club shirts and contribute to the annual points tables.

We hope you can join us to run or volunteer. If you've got friends and family visiting, why not bring them along. If you're away, you may still be able to get your parkrun fix. Check out the list of extra seasonal events Christmas Compendium on the parkrun website. The information is being regularly updated as more parkruns make plans, so do check back nearer to Christmas/New Year. We'll also be running as usual on the 21st December (our Christmas fancy dress run) and the 28th December 2013 (8am starts as usual).
