As part of parkrun Australia’s ongoing partnership with Athletics Australia, we are thrilled to announce that ‘Nitro’ is coming to Albert Melbourne parkrun on Saturday February 11!
What does this man? For one very special morning, the stars of Nitro Athletics will be in attendance at the ‘Nitro parkrun‘, starting and finishing inside Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park.
Held on the same day as the Nitro Athletics Melbourne Final, the Nitro parkrun will be a unique event for all the family, featuring Albert Melbourne parkrun, an IAAF athletics clinic, face painters, vendor stalls and the chance to meet some of the world’s best athletes after parkrun whilst gearing up for the big Nitro Athletics finale that night.
What is Nitro Athletics?
Across 4, 9 & 11 February, Melbourne is set to host the inaugural Nitro Athletics series – a team-based athletics competition with exciting new events featuring nine-time Olympic champion and the greatest athlete on the planet, Usain Bolt. Bolt is competing and captaining the Bolt All-Stars, a team of international stars of track and field as they take on an Australian team hungry to win on home soil. Nitro is all about presenting athletics differently with showmanship and short in-stadium entertainment as the focus.
Tickets to Nitro Athletics are limited and are selling very fast. See more at Nitroathletics.com.au
This will be a regular parkrun, with added "Nitro"! All participants will be required to have a printed barcode, we cannot scan mobile phones. If you do not have a printed barcode you will not get a result. If you have not previously registered with parkrun you can register online here.
Please allow plenty of time for parking and plan to be inside the stadium by 7.30am, the run will commence at 8am sharp.
